Mitt Romney sends note of thanks to supporters

Washington (CNN) - Mitt Romney sent a note Saturday to his campaign backers saying he and his wife "cannot thank you enough for supporting and believing in our cause."

"This was more than just a campaign - this was a national movement," he said. "Thank you for the work that you did - going across neighborhoods to knock on doors and put up yard signs. Thanks for making phone calls, coming to rallies, donating funds, and convincing friends and family to join our team."

He did not specifically address his loss or President Barack Obama in the message.

"We still believe that better days are ahead. It's up to us to rally together to renew America's promise and restore American greatness," the message said.

The message did not address Romney's future plans. He has told supporters that one immediate emphasis is to help find jobs for the 400 campaign staffers.

"From the bottom of our hearts, Ann and I thank you for your support, prayers, efforts, and vote. We are forever grateful to each and every one of you. Today's a new day. Keep believing in America," Romney wrote before ending it saying, "Thank You."

Poor Mitt, retroactively retired again. It is unlikely he will find anything useful to do. Most Republican politicians do little to contribute to American society whether they are in or out of office. It would be nice if Mitt used his time and money to do something productive to help others, but with his Republican mentality he probably can't think beyond anything but how to benefit himself. Like Dubya, he will probably give lectures on how to offshore money and cheat the American tax system. What a guy, what a patriot. Heavy sigh of sarcasm.

I guess he can find 400 jobs in China for his campaign supporters. I thank God that this tax avoiding, draft dodging, cult following job exporter was dumped by the American people. Maybe the real Romney will surface one day.

Romney, now you lost election. You was trying to fool American people showing you paid 14% taxes for year 2011. In reality you did not claim 4 million donation deduction other wise your tax rate will be 10%. Now you will file amended return to claim 4 million dollars deduction and will collect over paid taxes. Thanks to American people by not electing this kind of cheator.

Glad Romney's gone– he was an out of touch aristocrat. Republicans need massive change.

Of course, nevermind the fact that right after his concession speach he cut off the credit cards of his staffers leaving them suddenly having to come up with the money for things like the cab they happen to be riding in or meals they were eating.

Thank you Mitt. America needed a true patriot, and honest, selfless, hero. America let a diamond slip through their fingers when they elected the the direction of broken promises and failed policies.

A classy farewell from an outstanding human being. Romney truly cares about this country, and about what the future holds in store for those who live here. No amount of Obama lies and character assassination changed that. If we are lucky, he will continue his efforts to help the nation going forward so that we might realize something better than the lessening of values, increased dependence on government and general decline of the nation that the next four years seem to hold in store.

  15. Mr. America

Your loss was very disappointing to many, including myself, and was, when contextually interpreted, a extinguishing of hope among the many American's who are suffering in this country... Where, pre-election day, there was the feeling in the air that we were on the precipice of an America about to rebound and heal itself. We were disappointingly greeted, per your loss, with that all to familiar feeling of repression and stagnation we have endured the last 4 years. After incurring so many violations of trust for the last 4 years, why o why did we reward Obama with the key's to the car once again... Please, run again in 2016 as we will need your economic expertise more then ever.

What a great man. It pains me to know what might have been. So many will remain unemployed and many more will fall into poverty. What has become of our country?

Ironic that Multiple Choice Mitt's word of "thanks" comes AFTER the President's heartfelt and tearful appreciation to his campaign staff video surfaces...but not before cutting off his campaign staffer's credit card that they tried to use for cab fair the night of the election.

And here's hoping that is the last we will ever hear from this man. Truly one of the worst Presidential candidates I can ever remember.

He ought to be able to find all 400 folks jobs in just 2 hours since he did promise 12,000,000 jobs in 4 years – which equals 8,300 per day. Anything short of those 2 hours is just...not good enough.
