Lets just call it for what it is, Israel is in the worst location that it could be in surounded By by people who feel the death of Israel is a victory. Israel has the right to protect its people and nation.

The poll shows a lowering of sympathy for both the Israelis and the Palestinians, as it should.

About 2 weeks ago, Israel announced, officially, that it would build more settlements in East Jerusalem. This move was to show displeasure against Palestine's attempt to get higher nation-status in the UN, to negotiate for peace from a better position. As Israel and the US want peace negotiations to take place outside of the UN, the move was made ( settlements in East Jerusalem ) to provoke Palestine.

Neither side is without fault in this renewed issue, nor is the USA.

I blame Israel for the rising tensions. When the Palestinians had leaders who wanted to negotiate first and shoot last, what was Israel's respone? Build more settlements throughout the GWB administration, who mistakenly allowed them the autonomy to do as they pleased.

Continued setttlement building while "negotiating" for peace rendered the negotiators ineffective, and empowered the more radical and violent groups to rise in status and power. Groups like Hama. Too bad the Israelis didn't see this coming. It was the only possible outcome.

To clarify the settlements issue... For starters there is no law forbidding Jews from living in the West Bank but allowing the Arabs to live there. Therefore, Jewish settlements there are no less legal than Arab villages. Further, a sovereign independent state was offered to Palestinian Arabs in 1948, 1967, 1978, 2000, 2001, 2005, 2009 and they've REJECTED it every single time declaring that NOTHING short of destruction of Israel would satisfy them. Still further, if the Palestinians did not like the settlements they would NEGOTIATE A BETTER DEAL long ago. Using settlements as a justification for REFUSAL to negotiate will only result in MORE settlements. Even the dumbest Palestinian can realize this simple truth. Finally, as long as the Palestinians are willing the war to continue it will continue. More settlements will be built and more Palestinians will be killled. When the number of new settlements and dead Palestinians will satisfy those still alive they will ask for peace.

I do not back the Israelis. I feel for the Palestinians who have been suffering for decades and the world keeps silent in most part. The Israelis are murdering innocent people in the name of their status of "chosen people". "Chosen" does not mean "right".
