Debt ceiling may collide with fiscal cliff
New York (CNNMoney) - If Congress fails to cut a deal on the fiscal cliff this year, the scramble to do so in January could run smack dab into yet another high-stakes negotiation - over raising the debt ceiling.
As of late last week, the country's debt was $154 billion below the $16.394 trillion debt ceiling.

This "collision" is no coincidence. It was supposed to have been a conservative talking point for the general eleciton, but they got sidetracked by their delusion of grandeur, that they were empowered to enact radical right wing social engineering.
Of course it will! Will these worthless republicans EVER quit??? Stop acting like sore losers and GET TO WORK!! Everyday it's some new ish with them. Had President Obama lost the election and he acted half as immature as they are, they would be all over the media bashing him. John McCain lost and so did that lying flip flopper that NONE of you wanted in the first place. So get over it, stop manufacturing crises and get to work!
CONGRESS, people lost faith totally in you–you better realize this truth. Pass tax laws. Let rich pay their share now. They were reaping all this while. Do not be foolish and idiotic. Takes Tax on that make 250k or more.
Adding more taxes on the wealth will not increase the revenue need , because this President and his administration spend to much. STOP the spending, cut back on social program requirement, put back in the need for those who want help need to be in school and trying to work. Allowing 17 to 30 illgeal aleins to recieve green cards and driver lincese, inclease voting of non-citizens and made them qualified for more social programs.
Everyone with an IQ above 10 knows the real problems in congress are the repugs! So lets over the fiscal cliff / go into a recession and get rid of the obstructionist GOP once and for all. They do nothing and think nothing constructive or forward. We don't needd them at any cost.
This is getting ridiculous. These millionaires can pay a few more dollars in taxes, it won't hurt them one bit. Look at the billions they spent trying to buy this election. Trust me, they aren't hurting nor are they creating any jobs. Remember the tax cuts were only supposed to be temporary.
Get it done!
Anyone that thinks raising taxes on the rich will do anything to the debt has rocks for brains. But then again liberals are the dumbest bunch of people anyway.
hate to be a bearer of bad tidings, but it may be the best thing for this country, if we go over that fiscal cliff – Now Why Do I Say That ? because if we do – and not really much happens, then the voters in this country will end up blaming the republican congress for their scare tactics – Then do you know what happens after that ? the mid-term elections in 2014 will end up being a majority of Dems. Maybe that way, we can get the "Business"of this country running again, and try to reduce the National Debt, since "dubya" had run it up in the first place, with all those needless wars and such.
