Video: Boehner's 52-second response to Obama

Washington (CNN) - House Speaker John Boehner did not mince words at a brief statement to reporters on Wednesday: following the House vote on his Plan B tax proposal, "the president will have a decision to make. He can call on Senate Democrats to pass that bill or he can be responsible for the largest tax increase in American history."

Sorry Boehner, it will still be your fault.

I'm willing to pay more taxes temporarily as long as the GOP does not bully the President into "plan B." Let everyone's taxes increase. Then in January, pass a newly named "Obama tax cut" to anyone making under $250,000.

If the spending cuts in the fiscal cliff are so terrible, then why is the GOP has proposed spending cuts nearly double the amount that would be sequestered by the fiscal cliff? Their proposal isn't serious, folks. As Nancy Pelosi said, the GOP proposals are tactics not solutions.

Hahahaha. So the GOP/Teatrolls' response is "ah, forget it, kick the chair out from under us...hanging sounds fun!"

BTW, I told you it's an offer meant solely to prvide them a very VERY thin and superficial excuse for claiming that "Obama couldn't take yes for an answer so it's all his fault" and to then push everything off unti they can use a manufactured debt ceiling crisis as a hostage situation for making demands on Medcare and SS. Anyone who didn't see this coming wasn't paying any attention whatsoever. They even got Norquist to "endorse" the "Plan B" even though it blatantly violates the absolutist pledges....his twisted rationalization that it doesn't is almost comedy writing. This ends very poorly for the GOP/Teatrolls. VERY poorly.

  6. The REAL Truth...

When are these Obstructionist Party bozo's going to get the message??? They LOST the election!!!
This reminds me of gorialla's chest-beating before turning tail and heading off into the jungle. It matters little whether Obama caves to their demands or not.. They have no leg to stand on. If we avert the fiscal cliff, they lose. If we go over the fiscal cliff, they lose. Give it up. Try compromise, or 2014 will be ANOTHER painful election for the GOP.

Sorry Boehner, wrong again!! Republicans will be responsible for the largest tax increase.

Boehner is such a joke....He forgets how the election went and he's trying to put all the blame on the President. The taxes are going up one way or the other on 1/1/13. I believe it is the redumblicans who have not been playing the cards right. This has been going on far too long and the American people are sick and tired of the games. Get er done!!!!!!!!! Enough is enough.....It is time for the wealthy to contribute–after all they have done nothing but get wealthier as the years have gone by. Boehner needs to look back at who was good at raising taxes on the American people.....I believe it was people of his own party.

You are obviously not familiar with how government works Real Truf, the republican congress was also voted in, largely to keep the liberal king from destroying our nation.

Newsflash to GOP/Teatrolls: Obama is in his second term. His bluff cannot be called by threatening a public relations blame war, particularly when the polls show that the public (who is the final arbiter of blame here) will overwhelmingly blame the GOP/Teatrolls.

This is, in the end, just blatantly stupid strategery on Boehner's part...that is, unless you first understand that the GOP/TEatrolls is in "nothing to lose" mode and wililng to take this damage just to do damage to Obama and the Dems. They consider it a pyrrhic victory as long as the MSM promotes everyone saying "NONE of them can be trusted and our gov't is totally broken." Why? Because that's the whole point after all...making sure Americans distrust their government and do not believe it can do anything right. If that requires getting in there and breaking everything, then getting blamed for it, then "so be least everything's now broken."

Let's see if the Tea Bagger's will vote for it first. If it passes the house, it will not pass the Senate. Sorry Beohner, it will be the Re[ublican's who will get the blame. 2014 can't come soon enough.

I pointed out the same thing from almost day one. They've been posturing themselves to appear to have compromised, which is why they opened the negotiations with such an extreme offer, "See, we came down to meet you." When in fact, they're still asking for more in cuts than the sequestration.

How could the American public not foresee that this President would not work with anyone outside his party? A Republican controlled House is the reality. Re-electing such an intensely partisan president who completely lacks leadership is the reason we are facing a plummet off the fiscal cliff. Obama-worst president ever.

Everyone who thinks that the GOP cares about them needs to pay attention to this fight. See how hard the GOP is fighting to protect the wealthiest few against paying a relatively small tax increase? Have you ever seen them fight so hard for anything that benefits you? They caved on gays in the military; on Obamacare; they are caving now on guns. But they fight to their last breath for the right of the rich to not pay taxes. What does that tell you about their true priorities?

It sounded like the House Speaker just threatened the whole Country, if the President pursues his proposal. Anyone else catch that at the end? The American people will pay for reelecting the President; that's what It sounded like.

"There is another, much easier way to enact full blown gun control – have control of both houses of government. Obama doesn't have to do anything about gun control or anything else right now. He and the Lefts focus are on capturing the House. The debt crisis debate isn't about the debt crisis at all. It's about demonizing the Republican Party in the minds of average Americans so that Obama can capture the House in 2014 – and, btw, it's working. Once Obama captures the House he'll have Carte Blanche to do anything he wants, including rewriting or eliminating whole sections of the Constitution, stripping away individual rights. Capturing the House is the easiest way for the Totalitarians (let's call them what they really are) to achieve their goal of enslaving the American people in one fell swoop. Don't think any of this can happen? Think again! We didn't think Obama could be re-elected either"

Setting aside how incredibly insane that rant was, I felt it provided a good opportunity to opint out that Boehner seems hellbent on helping Obama and the Dems take theHouse in 2014. If you'd like to avoid that result, I suggest you take off the blinders and start telling him to make an actual, sincere effort to compromise. His escalation tactic wih "Plan B" is not going to produce the results he and the Teatrolls think it will.

I usually don't respond to articles, but this one got my goat. This game that Boehner is playing has gotten really tiring and wearing my otherwise calming patience. What he is doing is spiteful and totally selfish toward the hard workers in this country. Why must we suffer because you hate the President enough to punish the entire country. I will pray for your soul nevertheless.

  22. Another Obama Fail

Mean time, the average American continues to stress about the economy, jobs, their ability to provide for their family while our confidence in our elected officials (including POTUS) continues to degrade.

Congress needs to move forward and pass plan B. Obama needs to cut more spending. Get by with less Obama (that's what the average American has to do). Buying Egypt 20 F16s and rearming Israel is $1 BILLION right there.

Aaaahhh yes, more facts that aren't. They did not lose the elections for the house, they are still the majority. As the neo-coms would say, "does not matter why, they are still the majority."
