Palin bashes Time magazine's 'Person of the Year'

(CNN) - Sarah Palin, who's been listed twice as one of Time Magazine's "100 Most Influential People," is taking issue with the publication's decision to name President Barack Obama as its "Person of the Year."

Poking fun at herself, the 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee said the magazine lacks a certain degree of relevancy.

"Time magazine, I think there's some irrelevancy there to tell you the truth. I mean consider their list of the most influential people in the country and in the world. Some who have made that list? Yours truly. That oughta tell ya something right there regarding the credence we should give Time magazine and their list of people," she said Wednesday on Fox News.

Managing editor Richard Stengel wrote Obama deserved the recognition because he "forged a new majority, turned weakness into opportunity and sought, amid great adversity, to create a more perfect union."

But Palin, who along with 2008 GOP presidential nominee Sen. John McCain, lost to the Democratic presidential ticket four years ago, said "those are some silly words chosen to describe Barack Obama."

"When I first heard that, the first thing that popped in my mind was: What the heck has he done? Really, what has he done, except drive us over a fiscal cliff," she said. "What has he done to unify and make our nation a more perfect union? For the life of me, I don't know."

The former Alaska governor was chosen as one of the magazine's most influential people in 2009 and held a top spot on the same list in 2010. She was also considered one of four runners-up for "Person of the Year" in 2008, when Obama first received the title, and as someone "who mattered" in 2010.

She argued that "the path towards a perfect union is our Constitution" but said Obama "sees it as a charger of negatives" that needs serious changes.

Palin stoked speculation for much of 2011 as she considered a presidential bid but ultimately decided to stay out of the running. She largely stayed out of the presidential race, instead choosing to campaign for conservative Senate candidates in GOP primary battles.

Sarah Palin, Tea Party Fuhrer and one-time leader of the GOP; actually knows how to read?

Sarah Palin would be better off if she doesn't say anything in pubic...Maybe someday, people will forget who she WAS but still IS.

Please notice the results of the 2012 election. There is nothing in the results that lets you pretend that you are speaking for Americans. In fact, the results indicate Americans strongly reject you and people like you.

Ms. Palin is a major irritant and she thrives on being as such.

Does anyone listen to this dunce anymore? She can’t string together a coherent sentence unless someone writes it for her. “Can I call you Joe”…

It was a profound act of wisdom that Sarah did not get elected to run this more reason why I never watch Faux News

You may not like the source but what she says is absolutely true. Much like the Nobel Prize he won for reasons unknown, this too is laughable and truly marginalizes everything time Magazine does in the future. The man is the worst president in history..... bar none.....Not even George Dubyah!

We use to have a cat. Sometimes she would stand in the middle of the livng room and meow at the top of her lungs. She didn't want anything, she just wanted us to know she was still there. I never really liked that cat, and didn't really care if she was there or not. Anyway – I'm reminded of that cat.

Gee – I use my credit card to give stuff to my friends every day, but my wife gets furious, my balance is shooting up, i can't pay it so higher interest rates kick in. So how come I'm not Time Many of the Year. It's easy to give stuff away....harder to fix things. But gee, he's such a nice guy who cares about us and loves all the glory we give him.

Who cares what Palin`s opinions are. She is of no consequence. She is a joke. If there was any substance to her she would have been part of that Republican mess trying to get the nomination for President.

@Yoshi. Perhaps you should be looking at who is running up that debt. Here's a hint: it's not Obama.

I didn't think Sarah Palin actually read magazines, newspapers, or journals. Didn't she have trouble responding to that question in 2008?

Palin from the party that touts Family values, but who has an out of wedlock grandchild (wink, wink) ... Let's see, Hmmmm... Won the Presidency in 08', which looking back wasn't much of an accomplishment considering the weak opponents. Won the Nobel Peace prize. Ended the War in Iraq and is working hard on ending the other War her party started. Death Panels (oops, forgot, that was a lie by some crazed bimbo), passed Health Care. Has kept our country together despite the efforts of the regressives to tear it down (just because they hate Obama). Has increased jobs and basically turned us around from losing a 1/2 million a month, to modest gains. Saved the American Auto Industry. Showed the country how a President is SUPPOSED to act when faced with natural disasters. Won a second term against a lot of money and an empty suit/head. Do you wish me to go on?

The poster girl for irrelevancy speaks! I wonder who she got to read the Time article to her.

"What the heck has he done?" Well for one, he WON the election (again) and two, he didn't quit half-way through his term. The only good thing about this is that I read what she said, instead of having to hear her screech it.

If it is as irrelevant as she says, why is she bothering to make a fuss over it?

Irks you liberals so much. Wow how many comments are there. Seems you all need her in your lives, so you can spout petty, trivial, hateful speech, things she'll even stand up for you. (1st Amendment) I for one respect someone who will stand up for, not only their own morals, ethics, and beliefs. But, for yours also. Oh, by the way, I haven't read one thing yet that describes anything she did or didn't do, all I hear is folks trying to bash her for what their running away from. It's called freedom. So, before you say she quit the governorship, most people take a chance at moving up in the work place. Once again, Oh, by the way, Senator Obama quit his job too.

    @ Don at 11:01 am:

"Sarah Palin is a true American who sticks to her beliefs and doesn't buckle because of the criticism or for politics. She's a breath of fresh air and tells it like it is. God Bless Sarah Palin"

Ummm... that is exactly what she does: buckle under pressure. That is precisely why she resigned her post as Governor.
