Palin bashes Time magazine's 'Person of the Year'

(CNN) - Sarah Palin, who's been listed twice as one of Time Magazine's "100 Most Influential People," is taking issue with the publication's decision to name President Barack Obama as its "Person of the Year."

Poking fun at herself, the 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee said the magazine lacks a certain degree of relevancy.

"Time magazine, I think there's some irrelevancy there to tell you the truth. I mean consider their list of the most influential people in the country and in the world. Some who have made that list? Yours truly. That oughta tell ya something right there regarding the credence we should give Time magazine and their list of people," she said Wednesday on Fox News.

Managing editor Richard Stengel wrote Obama deserved the recognition because he "forged a new majority, turned weakness into opportunity and sought, amid great adversity, to create a more perfect union."

But Palin, who along with 2008 GOP presidential nominee Sen. John McCain, lost to the Democratic presidential ticket four years ago, said "those are some silly words chosen to describe Barack Obama."

"When I first heard that, the first thing that popped in my mind was: What the heck has he done? Really, what has he done, except drive us over a fiscal cliff," she said. "What has he done to unify and make our nation a more perfect union? For the life of me, I don't know."

The former Alaska governor was chosen as one of the magazine's most influential people in 2009 and held a top spot on the same list in 2010. She was also considered one of four runners-up for "Person of the Year" in 2008, when Obama first received the title, and as someone "who mattered" in 2010.

She argued that "the path towards a perfect union is our Constitution" but said Obama "sees it as a charger of negatives" that needs serious changes.

Palin stoked speculation for much of 2011 as she considered a presidential bid but ultimately decided to stay out of the running. She largely stayed out of the presidential race, instead choosing to campaign for conservative Senate candidates in GOP primary battles.

Time magazine is now irrelevant. They need to sell a few more issues before they go bankrupt.

LOL!!! Amidst all this tragedy, I needed a good laugh. Must be reality show time again or just sheer boredom that this useless person comes out of the woodwork once again. Maybe she (and the rest of the adults in her family) should consider getting a real job and stop bothering the rest of us with her nonsense. Although, did appreciate it today!

Please stop covering this woman and ignore her permanently. It has been so very nice to see nothing about her for quite a while.

Guess that the Alaskan Air Head couldn't figure out any other way to get herself some attention for today.

Definitely one of the stupidest persons on the planet and the GOP would do well to convince Ailes to shut her down-she's not helping the GOP change their already damaged-goods image, with 2016 coming up.

There are few things more pathetic than a forty-something grown woman acting like a middle school mean girl. It would be humorous if it weren't so sad.

If Sarah Palin and her like-minded supporters are the only 'real Americans' than the future of this country looks irreversibly bleak.

Thankfully, the opposite is true – and it is Sarah Palin and her base who are dismissed as nothing more than a train wreck of biblical unintelligent and unread proportions.

@wolfpackbob--bet you think TIME would be relevant if it put a GOP-er on the cover, though.

The only individuals that drove us over this cliff is the GOPers and their mismanagement of america's money for the last decade. Mr. Bush and the GOP cry babies will never understand the debts this president is having to sacrifice for cleaning up their financial mess. GOPers have no foresight and can only see what is right in front of them (a vote or monies to fill their coffers). Palin seeing russia from her back yard was her justification for becoming VP. Must i say more. Mr. Obama has more intelligence in his little toe then she has in her stick body, including her BIG HEAD!

As if what Sarah Palin thinks is in any way important or interesting to anyone but herself. If our president came up with the cure for cancer, eliminated our national debt, and got the unemployment rate down to zero, she wouldn't be thankful that these things were accomplished, she would only find fault in how the results were met. She is a has-been and doesn't realize it. Actually, she is a never-was....the GOP just needed a scapegoat.

If anybody would know anything about "irrelevancy" it would be Sarah Palin you just don't get any more irrelevant than her.

Does anyone care that someone who sees Russia from her backyard, wanted to be vice-president but never owned a passport nor could she name a single reputable newspaper or magazine, has to say? It looks like she's simply jealous because he and Biden beat her easily in 2008, got Bin Laden, got us out of two wars, along with the 180 more promises kept from the 2008 election, and now how won re-election and defeated the Tea Party candidates in a big way. Jealousy.
