Boehner's White House F-bomb

(CNN) - For all the stalemate in the fiscal cliff negotiations, there were some heated moments, too.

A Democratic source familiar with one particular exchange told CNN that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell were sitting on a sofa in the White House.

House Speaker John Boehner breezed in and his first words to Reid were "Go f*** yourself."

Boehner's comment came after Reid took to the Senate floor on Thursday and characterized the House speaker's handling of his chamber as a "dictatorship."

Reid responded to Boehner's confrontational tone by laughing, the Democratic source said, though a GOP source who was there said he didn't think Reid was all that happy.

"The exchange continued, and it didn't get any better for Reid," the GOP source said.

Boehner's office had no comment on the exchange when asked about it Wednesday.

Both men described the moment to members of their caucus.

The exchange happened at the White House on Friday - the day the four Capitol Hill leaders, including House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi - met with President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, and Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner.

On Wednesday, after news of the comment emerged, Reid said on the Senate floor that "unlike others behind us in this Capitol, I'm not going to stoop to name calling. I just want people to work and do what they need to do." Politico first reported Boehner's comment.

Hours after the meeting on Friday, he described it as "constructive."

"There was not a lot of hilarity in the meeting, everyone knows how important it is," Reid said. "It was a very serious meeting and it took an extended period of time."

Meh. Big Fing Deal. We already knew the GOP/Teatrolls were petulant, tantrum-throwing pantwetters and crybabies. They've been in the throes of the biggest "we get what we want or we destroy the nation" political hissy fit the country has seen since the 1860's. It's rather played out at this point, particularly when you consider that despite all their arm-flailing, foot-stomping, fingers-in-the-ears "lalalalalalalalala I WANT IT MY WAY" infantile theatrics, Obama still keeps taking them out back to the woodshed....and we'll watch it happen all over again when they try to take the debt ceiling hostage yet again. The only "victory" they can claim in the past 4 years are to have convinced a goodly portion of an exceedingly misinformed and undereducated country, with the unabashed help of our failed journalism industry, that SS, Medicare and programs helping the poor are the sole reasons for the deficits and debt. Other than that, they may be succeeding in pretty much destroying gov't and hampering economic recovery, but it's hard to call that a "victory" when they are also the ones taking most of the blame for it....pyrrhic perhaps, but "if we're going down, we're taking you all with us," won't protect their fortunes or the fortunes of their plutocrat backers for very long.

Boehner's bar talk is a bit brash, being the boaster at which he is better, the substance of his speech unpleasant trash, there can be no explanation for his act unless of course his imbibing strong drink is fact.

Speaker Boehner was just expressing his traditional christian family values. Perhaps he thought it was a passage from the bible.

"So that is how liberty is lost, to a grand applause", Makes we want to scream as loud as I can. Few read the US Constitution, and fewer can understand it. The lack of historical knowledge by our lower income; aka "middle class" citizens is astounding.

How is the tax cut for the middle class going today that Harry, Nancy and Obama promised going today? Plain & simple, EVERYONE has 2% more tax out of their check THIS WEEK. But, it's for a good cause. If you don't work, never worked or have any intention of working. Right?

Reid should talk about dictatorship. He wants to find a way to eliminate the filibuster by extending the first day of the new term until he can slipp this through. As demonstrated by his lack of ultimate involvement in the fiscal cliff deal, he remains the most useless man in DC.

The words of a sore loser and further evidence of his inability to compromise. It just goes to show that compromise to him is losing. He has a mindset of extreme thinking, it's all or nothing and that is exactly what we do NOT need running this country.

Im glad Boehner stood up for himself... Harry Reid is a slimey politician. Look at his record. He needs someone to tell him to cut the BS once in while. He seems like a big time panderer to me and says what is convenient for his job... not what really needs to be done.

Obviously the first time anyone, ANYONE, in Washington DC has uttered these words to another. Man, the blog subjects must really be thin this time of year. And the rest of you hacks calling Boehner dispicable, childish, whatever, consider what Reid started the jab with a "dictatorship" claim of Boehner.

    But really, who cares?

Boehner is a drunk, and not a dry one either. That anyone would entrust such a blubbering lush as their leader speaks volumes about their own character or, in the case of the Tea Baggers, lack of it.

Go f ____ yourself is the best retort from a person who has had a less than stellar career. I'm glad he can show us once again the kind of family values the republicans have, not that we don't need the reinforcement of them and their ilk. You can see how far this country has slipped from greatness. These people who call themselves republicans are inept, uneducated, hateful, and vindictive people. Where were their complaints when Georgie boy got us into two wars and gave the rich or as he put it, "the have mores" the biggest tax break in history. Let me reiterate, these people are hateful little people who have no spine when it comes to standing up for the truth.

They care so much they are building a $2B rail system right to his back yard as a stimulus and create jobs. The high speed rail will get the Hollywood and CA folks in and out of Vegas quickly.

Anonymous-"Cry me a river and grow up. All of you. The President of the United States has been called worse by your own party..."
I guess Dems are one to talk. Remember all the things said about GWB. What about Obama giving Hillary the middle finger or call Romney a derogatory name? It seems to me that people like you, RudyNYC, Sniffet and other kook turn a blind eye to when your own does the same or worse.
The fact is Boehner read the Sandy relief bill and saw that it was loaded with pork that the Senate led by Dirty Harry Ried was trying to get pass as "emergency relief". There was over $51Billion of pork that had nothing to do with the emergency relief for the victims. Then when Dirty Harry did not get his way, he went on national TV and started the name calling of Boehner. At least Boehner had the decency to tell Harry Ried the truth about what he did in the Senate.
It was wrong of Harry Ried to stuff the Bill full of pork, use the tragedy of Hurricane Sandy to fatten his friends pockets and Boehner was right to call him every nasty name in the book for doing that and then insulting Boehner when he stood up to Reid.
Get a freaking clue people! Shame on u CNN for not reporting the facts.

Your delusional. Harrry Reid is a thug and has done nothing but damage the country. He has enriched himself with scandalous real estate deals in his own state while not doing his constitutional duty to put forth a budget in 3 years. Reid is a low life.

Reid threw his own people under the bus saying "he only reads what's on the script". His script writer came out and threw Reid back under the bus proving this was not on the script. Harry Reid is a weasel and a liar. This is not about Republicans or Democrats.... This is Harry Reid being a weenie.
