Boehner's White House F-bomb

(CNN) - For all the stalemate in the fiscal cliff negotiations, there were some heated moments, too.

A Democratic source familiar with one particular exchange told CNN that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell were sitting on a sofa in the White House.

House Speaker John Boehner breezed in and his first words to Reid were "Go f*** yourself."

Boehner's comment came after Reid took to the Senate floor on Thursday and characterized the House speaker's handling of his chamber as a "dictatorship."

Reid responded to Boehner's confrontational tone by laughing, the Democratic source said, though a GOP source who was there said he didn't think Reid was all that happy.

"The exchange continued, and it didn't get any better for Reid," the GOP source said.

Boehner's office had no comment on the exchange when asked about it Wednesday.

Both men described the moment to members of their caucus.

The exchange happened at the White House on Friday - the day the four Capitol Hill leaders, including House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi - met with President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, and Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner.

On Wednesday, after news of the comment emerged, Reid said on the Senate floor that "unlike others behind us in this Capitol, I'm not going to stoop to name calling. I just want people to work and do what they need to do." Politico first reported Boehner's comment.

Hours after the meeting on Friday, he described it as "constructive."

"There was not a lot of hilarity in the meeting, everyone knows how important it is," Reid said. "It was a very serious meeting and it took an extended period of time."

Uhm, Boehner didn't resort to name calling. He told Reid to f@#$ off. Reid was the one who called Boehner "a dictator". Which is name calling.

Just thought I'd point out the obvious. Alright CNN cretin, go wild with whatever nonsensical ramblings you were at...

Boehner was headed toward the worst week of his life, rejected by his own caucus, so he needed a target for his frustration. Johnny-boy, you ain't just sweeping out the bar any more!

Have we forgotten Biden's ",,,this is a big f....deal?" Speaker B's remark is nothing compared to the obscene number of insinuations trotted about by B.O.'s Hall Monitor, Harry Reid.

Reid should be ashamed insulting the Speaker, it was very rude. Harry needs to retire ASAP.

Boehner has a tough job. Upon occasion, his caucus will not follow his lead. Their Majority Leader will not follow his lead. Their whip will not follow his lead. But neither will the caucus follow their majority leader. They got burned bad in this recent election and that has split their party. The Tea Party got its butt kicked again last night, when the actual fiscal conservatives and the move-toward-center factions prevailed. If he can keep that together, John Boehner and his party may yet survive this madness. But if the Majority Leader and the Whip prevail it is hard to estimate the loss and the damage.

I don't know why everyone is so upset. Reid should go f himself. It might be the only thing that he will accomplish in the next 4 years. He is windbag and needs to go.

Is it just me or is Boehner starting to look like the main Ephor from 300? If you compare their faces side by side, it's kinda creepy. Especially cuz Boehner-Republican politics borrow so heavily from Ephor ways and means.

Why is "Boehner" pronounced as "Baynor" when phonetically it should sound like "BONER"?(an apt description I might add)

This guy needs to go QUICK. I'm sick and tired of the hatred seen in his face everytime
someone disagrees with him(look at the pics of him looking at Obama).

Loved how he quickly buckled after Gov. Christies comments!!

I'm a Republican and this man has destroyed the house, his, and the party's legitimacy.

Republicans and leadership are mutually exclusive terms. It appears Republicans and class are the same.

Boehner, with that orange face and thinning hair, I am sure you are doing a lot of that to yourself anyway. 🙂 Seriously, just give in. The American people sent you and your other GOP cronies a clear message: We want something positive done and we want it now. We also want you to cooperate with the president. It looks like you are going to lose a lot of voters in New Jersey too. Gov. Christie is begging for help for his people and you dummies are dragging your feet. Give it up. You cannot make President Obama look bad anymore. We are watching YOU. Congratulations Mr. President for hanging tough for the middle class. We're with you 100%.

Looks like Reid and Obama told Boehner to do the same and won (can't use the actual word because my comment would be removed).

BFD! Reid is a jerk who showed no leadership in the Senate. McConnel (Repub) had to call Biden and ask for his help because Reid announced that the Democrats could not get a proposal together.

Seems to me that since the Dems have started getting a little tougher and striking back more often, the Republicans can dish it out, but they can't take it...Sore losers and whiners all the way. And now a temper tantrum evidently.
Boehner's a d-bag. And worse than Boehner? Mitch freaking McConnell.. Who in todays society could possibly be in alignment with this crotchety old, google-eyed, bigot, slave-owning, plutocrat reincarnated from the 16th century?

Ried's hypocrital remarks that triggered Boehner's outburst were no less crude! The man runs the Senate with an iron fist and the inbox on his desk is like a black hole! ALl he has ever been interested in is his own position. So there is no reason for hime to be surprised at Boehners response and of you self-righteous hypocrites that are lambasting Boehner are just as crude!

Boehner's reaction to Reid was inappropriate. In fact, most of the hateful posts here are inappropriate. That being said, Reid has established himself as the sophmoric cheerleader for the DNC in a manner that is unconstructive, negative and simply intellectually vaccuous. We have a congress full of beta dogs on both sides of the isle that believe that misbehaving, acting like asses, and making a mockery of civil liberties in general will somehow compensate for that and mystically transform them to the alpha dogs that they deleusionally believe that they are. All of the way around, it's lose-lose for the American taxpayer and we're paying dearly for consistently fielding a B team to DC,

Mr. Boehner's disrespectful behavior and gutter language calls for his public apology. Gutter language has seeped into the vocabulary of many people, including those who are highly educated, so now it does not seem to be so shocking as maybe 10, 15 tears ago, But Mr. Boehner is an elected official and was not speaking merely privately, but within the scope of his duties at the White House. This is so appalling, proper words actually fail me. When next the President faces him, I surely think he will do so with jaw clenched.

How sophomoric of Boehner. How long are Americans going to have contend with the House GOP drama queens? I speak of their cussing, crying, and whining while demanding cajoling and attention from all.

RIP Journalism 2012. Instead of focusing on more important things to report on the media is interested in politicians dropping the f bomb. Cant wait to see what the media will do in 2013...

Well, at least Boehner didn't cry like he usually does. I think we are watching the demise of the Republican Party, and not a moment too soon.
