Ready to tackle the job: Clinton returns to State

(CNN) - Who says politics and diplomacy aren't contact sports?

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton returned to work Monday and was gifted the proper equipment for her final plays on the job.

Her Deputy Secretary of State Thomas Nides and staff at the weekly meeting of approximately 75 department managers presented her "a football helmet with a State Department seal, lots of good padding," State Department Spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said.

Reporters were not in the room, but the presentation was described by Nuland at a press briefing Monday afternoon, and the department distributed photos of her opening the gifts.

Clinton had been on team State Department's "injured" list after a bout with the flu, which led to a fall, concussion, and the discovery of a blood clot in her head, according to her office.

She was also given a "football jersey that said Clinton on the back and on the front it says '#112,' which symbolizes the number of countries she visited as secretary of state," Nuland said.

"She loved it," Nuland added. "She thought it was cool. But then being Hillary Clinton she wanted to get right to business."

On Friday, department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland described Clinton's condition after her release as "upbeat" and "raring to go."

Clinton will leave her post as secretary of state once her replacement for the post is confirmed by the Senate. President Obama announced his nomination of Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry for the post late last year.

When Hillary runs for President this little blod clot on the brain will be no big deal. But I seem to recall that John McCain's cured skin cancer was enough for the LEFT to say he was physically unfit to be President. How the media handles this will be very interesting to watch. What are the odds that she gets a pass? I must say that we are all glad that she is OK.

    @Harvey Garciawicz\
Do you think that the Congress automatically passes all bills proposed by any Pres let alone Pres Obama f it did there would be budget crises there are.
Did you do your own research on the security budget for the State Dept, or did you get your your ideas without the numbers from Limbaugh or the Drudge report . Pres Obama requested $2.15 billion for 2013 the repub contrlled House amended it to $1..934 billion a cut of around about $210 million, In 2011 the house reduced the secuity budget by $128million and in 2012 by $313 million( $88 million was restored after negotiation with the Senate. for repub comments on these cuts look up Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT). Yes the senate could have rejected the repub amendments but the original budget would not have been passed, leaving even bigger holes in diplomatic scurity

I would like to see the Fox channel apologize to Secretary Clinton for insinuating she was faking her illness so she did not have to testify.

Is there a Doctor in the house that can tell us if they've ever treated an extradural blood clot in the partial region of the skull with blood thinners?

Why is it when a person says anything against the Democrats they are racist or Republicans if that's the case you all must be bigots.

I have been a Democrat all of my life but I didn't vote for Obama in the second election because he didn't earn my vote.

Clinton I am glad she is stepping down and IF THE 69 YEAR OLD RUNS IN 2016 NO WAY IN HELL I WOULD VOTE FOR HER OR BIDEN.

We are in the mess we are in due to the fact the President, Senate, and House don't have a clue how to manage our money and don't care since it's not theirs.

Don't know why we can't have term limits and just want to run for office to help our Country not divide it.

I thought that Congress was not to pass a bill or law that didn't apply to everyone including the President and Congress.

Must be nice to get gifts on the taxpayers dime.

Where I work, you don't get a gift after a injury.

I have a strong feeling that Clinton has no plans for 2016 election – regardless of the prodding she gets.
Perhaps, she has something else on her mind. Something more effective in changing this country and the world than being the President.

Could we all move on from Benghazi, please? Hillary has already taken full responsibility. The Ambassador's family has stated that they are satisfied with the investigation's report. I think we better get moving on jobs and the deficit.

@CryBabies: Take it or leave it; Obama would have still won the Election even if Benghazi issues have been more blown as your suggested. No one was ready to risk the US with a Liar like Romney. His debacle loss to Obama is a testimony to my claim.

  20. Why Benghazi?

She has nothing to do with Benghazi . It is an act of terrorists. If you have time and resources to waste and blame people, go catch the terrorists.
