Clarence Thomas breaks years of silence on bench

Washington (CNN) - It was just a few words and a joke at that. But Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas broke his seven-year long silence on Monday when he spoke at oral arguments.

He made fun of lawyers from Yale, his law school alma mater.

Judge Thomas does not belong on the Supreme Court. He had been judge for only 18 months when selected. What other profession allows to go to the top with so little experience.

For those who love to spout off how blacks voted for President Obama just because he is black I would just like to say, if THIS black man were to run, I would vote for anyone but him. That said, if General Powell were to run, I would vote for him in a heartbeat.

Evading taxes sound familiar Judgie Poo. This guy should have been thrown off the bench years ago. Totally crooked and ineffective. Not deserving of any respect by any American

Thomas obviously has - nor ever had - anything to say. As a "replacement" for Thurgood Marshall, he is a really sick joke, an insult to the African-American community. We may as well have an empty chair on the Court.

What kind of judge never asks any questions? " He has made a habit out of it" says the piece, does that mean he's just putting the time in for the check as he's too lazy to do his job?

How fair can that be for anyone infront of him?

Imagine this sort of person facing the appointment process now used by the Republicans for every member of the President's staff. Supreme Court Justices are appointed for life!

Justice Thomas does not ask questions or make statements. He does not want anyone to know what he is thinking or why. Unfortunately, this inaction does not strengthen his position on the Supreme Court. Rather, it reminds us that we have a justice who is not willing to stand up and be counted. Regardless of why he chooses not to speak he certainly makes feel that he should not have been appointed to the Court. He definitely did not have the experience or background. Perhaps some day we will know just why he was appointed.

Clarence Thomas is an insult to the memory of the great Thurgood Marshall. He was by far the WORST thing that President Bush number one ever did.

Thomas should never have been put on the Supreme Court. He doesn't show me that he is anything more than an ideologue.
