Feinstein proposes new ban on some assault weapons

Washington (CNN) - Almost six weeks after the Connecticut shooting rampage that killed 20 first-graders, Sen. Dianne Feinstein on Thursday proposed a new federal ban on some assault rifles and semi-automatic weapons, as well as ammunition magazines that hold more than 10 rounds.

With assault rifles and semi-automatic rifles displayed on one side and police officers who support her proposal behind her, Feinstein said the goal is to "dry up the supply of these weapons over time."

Blah blah the wheel's off your trailer, I have the guts to say it. Disturbed people kill, not the guns. There was a mass killing in China a couple weeks ago with a knife! Are knives next?

The last time I checked, a republican controlled House, Senate and Executive branch voted overwhelmingly to take away the guns of the Afghans and the Iraqis. Is that a double standard or just plain ole hypocrisy??? Perhaps the Taliban and al Qaeda and the Kurds and Sunis should all come to Washington and lobby to get their guns back. Isn't it their sovereign and unalienable rights to bare guns too??? Is that a double standard or just plain ole western right wing ludicrous hypocrisy???

@sonny chapman – The 2nd amendment wasnt written for hunting purposes. It was written so the citizens had a effective means to resist a tyrannical government. Back in 1776 it was muskets, today its semi automatic weapons. The weapons may be modern but the principles remain the same.

Where is the list? Why is she hiding it? Doesn't she trust the America public? I think we all know the answers. And, when we do see the list (she can't hid it forever), we will know why she had so much trouble getting any other Senators or Representatives to support her.

I knew that asking kids in schools about guns was going to come up. That was in that information that i read back in the 70's about how they were going to get guns away from americans. i think it was trilateral commission. they were going to poison kids with vaccines also. it was so gross i couldn't read that stuff anymore. but they evidently do it. these people are so evil that you can't stomach reading about them. they aim at kids. (more sick and harder for us to comprehend).
