(CNN) - Sarah Palin and Fox News have parted ways.
The former Alaska governor and 2008 vice presidential candidate had continued to speak out on politics as a paid contributor to the channel but turned down a recent offer to renew her contract with the network, according to a source close to Palin. Fox News confirmed that Palin will no longer be with them as a political analyst.

The decision apparently ends, at least for now, a relationship which has hit rough patches in the last year. Reports said Palin angered network president Roger Ailes by announcing on a different news outlet she would not run for the White House in 2012.
In August of last year, she posted on Facebook, "I'm sorry Fox cancelled all my scheduled interviews tonight," raising again questions about her future with the network.
A year earlier, Fox News host Greg Gutfeld said he had made a "joke" when he said "The only problem with talking about Sarah Palin is that she works here ... And if I say something bad and I see her in the hallway, I feel really awkward and wrong, so I just kind of say, 'good job'."
Her contract expired at the end of 2012.
Fox News Executuve Vice President of Programming Bill Shine said in a statement, "We have thoroughly enjoyed our association with Governor Palin. We wish her the best in her future endeavors."
Ahead of the 2012 election, Palin toured early primary states in a bus plastered with an image of the U.S. Constitution, wooing local politicos and appearing at politically significant events, including the Des Moines, Iowa state fair.
Her political organization, Sarah PAC, contributed to various Senate candidates this past cycle.
Palin has not been exclusive to Fox television properties. Palin and her family also starred in a one-season reality show - "Sarah Palin's Alaska" on TLC - and Palin appeared as a featured "guest host" on NBC's "Today Show." She spoke to CNN moments after casting her ballot in the Alaska Republican primary last March.
Her family has found their way onto other media properties: her daughter competed on ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" and taped a reality-style show, Lifetime's "Life's a Tripp."
The contract news was first reported by the site Real Clear Politics.

Don't let the door hit you in the butt on the way out.
What a relief to be able to not hear that screeching voice spew her venom whenever she got the chance. She is one angry person and hopefully she will disappear from the limelight so we don't have to listen to her any more. The only scary thought is that she might be thinking about running for president in 2016. That would be a disaster!
Gone and forgotten.....
Thank goodness! Maybe she will finally shut up and go back to Alaska; if they'd have her.
Can't wait for her to show up 10 years from now 80 pounds heavier. That will be a fun day
OMG! When Faux Noise won't have anything to do with you, where can you go to peddle your ignorance and hate. I believe they have a corner on that part of the Teapublican rhetoric. Maybe be are rid of her forever!
Ms Palin should have known better. She might have played politics with the Alaskan big boys and won, but she was naive to think she could bust ballz on a national stage. She could have gone back to her job as Governor and had a wonderful career in Alaskan politics and who knows, maybe have become a Senator. You know what they say, when you lay down with dogs, you get up with fleas. You cannot worship god and mammon.
Quitter
Wow. She's too crazy even for Faux News?
Well, I guess her 15 minutes of fame is up.
Palin who?
May this dark cloud in our political landscape now dissipate and fade from view forever.
I bet the other networks are lining up and bidding on her! LOL
Maybe she can team up with Michelle Bachmann and they can ride of into the sunset like the Lone Ranger and Tonto
Sarah Palin needs to time to re-write the Bible so that it fits into her campaign for 2016.
I can't wait to see her new show along side Glenn Beck's new show. Maybe she will start a utopian society, just like Beck. I suggest the new land could be called TEABAGGIA. Now if we can get Bill O, Sean Insanity, and Rush Limpdick to join we can all be saved from the evil in the world.

Oddly, Palin leaving the Fox network may actually lower the IQ average of its commentators.
Sarah Palin? Never heard of her. Not bad lookin though.
The sooner we no longer have to listen to that nails-on-chalkboard voice of hers, the BETTER.
J Myer, I don't think we have to worry about her running for president in 2016, I doubt very much the Republican party will go any where near her. I woudln't be surprised that is why she didn't end up runniing this last time, she started out with a fancy bus and a flurry of activity that quickly dried up. She would have to run as an independant if she ever decided to have a go at it again. Frankly, with her star falling I doubt she could raise enough money and also doubt she would spend any of her own hard "won" money. Now, please, let her go away! What a nincompoop!
Luckily, the Wasila Bait and Tackle Shop is hiring.
Will she now fade back into the oblivion from whence she came? Gawd I hope so.
Silly Snowbilly.
Somebody send her some duct tape.
Palin can't stick to anything. She didn't finish her term as governor and now she quits GOP news or faux news. She needs to take care of her children who are very out of control. No one reads her blogs. Maybe she can work for chick-fil-a and their anti-Gay rhetoric.
