Skeptical congresswoman challenges Obama to skeet shooting match
(CNN) – It's about time for some bipartisan...skeet shooting?
Rep. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tennessee, joined a chorus of skeptics who questioned President Barack Obama's recent comments about his hobby of skeet shooting, a sport where participants fire shotguns to break airborne clay disks.

"If he is a skeet shooter, why have we not heard of this? Why have we not seen photos? Why hasn't he referenced this at any point in time?" Blackburn said Monday on CNN's "Erin Burnett OutFront."
"I tell you what I do think," she later added. "I think he should invite me to Camp David, and I'll go skeet shooting with him and I bet I'll beat him."
Obama said in an interview published Sunday by The New Republic that he won't ignore the concerns of hunters and sportsmen as his administration pushes for tighter gun laws. To illustrate his point, he added an anecdote about his previously unknown penchant for shooting.
"Up at Camp David, we do skeet shooting all the time," he said, responding to a question about whether he had ever fired a gun. He also added he has included guests on his skeet shooting outings.
Some found the comments puzzling and wondered why he hadn't mentioned his gun experience in the high-profile firearm debate over the past six weeks. The remarks especially fired up some conservative blogs and news outlets.
"We had this debate that is ongoing," Blackburn said. "You would have thought it would have been a point of reference."
When asked by Jessica Yellin, CNN's chief White House correspondent, how often the president goes skeet shooting, White House press secretary Jay Carney said earlier Monday that he doesn't know.
"He does go to Camp David with some regularity, but I'm not sure how often he's done that," Carney said during the daily press briefing.
Pressed further if there was a photograph of the president taking part in the sport, Carney said "There may be, but I haven't seen it."
"Why haven't we heard about it before?" Yellin continued.
"Because when he goes to Camp David, he goes to spend time with his family and friends and relax, not to produce photographs," Carney said.

Everyone knows that cameras don't belong at a shooting range! One minute you're shooting photos, the next you're shooting your gun, and if you get the two confused you're in trouble since one device is meant to be pointed at your friends and the other isn't.
Our President is a confident man who has no need for a firearm to assert his manhood. Unlike Blackburn who apparently does.

I too am a moderate, though a little more conservative in nature than strictly centrist. I agree with you about the far right, but I also think the same about the far left, even the center looks like the extreme right to them.

And there you have it in a nutshell. The national dialigue is broken because a large group of people simply don't want to have the conversation if they're not hearing what they want to hear. It's time to ignore the hell out of them.
Give me a break, I've gone skeet shooting several times sense I was a kid and have 0 pictures to prove it. Let the witch hunt begin. Maybe if we spent more time investigating real things, that actually matter we might know more of what might help stop gun violence, but then again investigative journalism is all but dead anymore.

As a native Tennessean, I sincerely apologize for the ignorance that exists in my state that results in electing Blackburn and many others.
Poster "You people" .... you're not the president ... the media had no trouble photographing Bush43 while he was biking or doing other activities. There's a long history of presidents allowing photographers some time to document presidential activity. We have photos of Obama playing basketball, golfing, swimming, playing with his kids and dogs, and eating hamburgers and ice cream.
Blackburn should focus on her life long dream of eliminating planned parenthood, instead of becoming the new Sara Palin. Unplanned parenthood is her rallying cry.
Stand by....photoshopped pics of the chosen one's expert skeet shooting ability coming soon. Expect a shoddy job by the same person who created the forged birth certificate.

Obama is a celebrity politician, NOT a leader. He's a bully with a community organizer brain, which means that his preferred style for getting things done is to pit one group (or groups) of people against another. And that is EXACTLY his style. He castigates and vilifies anyone who doesn't agree with him, ignores facts, and ignores the rule of law. The reason he got elected (by a VERY slight majority) is because he's "cool", he shoots baskets, and he hangs out with movie stars. Unfortunately, for a certain percentage of people in this country who are pretty shallow and don't understand the difference between being a celebrity and being a leader, that's enough.
As for whether or not Obama has ever shot a gun, well...MAYBE he's shot a shotgun once or twice, but anyone thinking of him shooting for more than a ceremonial reason needs to have their head examined. He would be as awkward shooting a shotgun as he was in the widely-seen photo of him (awkwardly) holding a shovel, pretending that he knew how to do "real" work. Obama is NOT a gun person. He IS a bully, though.
Hey, Obama...how about instead of distracting the American people yet AGAIN by pitting us against one another and focusing on little issues, that you TRY and get cracking on the fiscal crisis. Yes, it IS a lot easier to tell people "hey, look over THERE!!!" and get their attention off of the things you don't do well...but a real leader wouldn't do that.
