(CNN) - Sally Jewell, the CEO of outdoor gear company REI, will be nominated by President Barack Obama to succeed Ken Salazar as secretary of the interior, a senior administration official tells CNN.
Salazar announced in mid-January that he was stepping down from his post. He did not intend to serve another term in Obama's Cabinet, he said.
The senior administration official said Jewell is "uniquely qualified" for the new post because of her management in the private sector and understanding of energy and conservation issues.
Jewell is a women, obama pick again an she white. What does the people have to say now. She maybe right for the job, people stepping down obama always have other people wanting the seat.
She's a la-day. Whoa, whoa, whoa. She's a wo-man.
I thought the Democrats didn't respect successful business people in the private sector. Another hypocrisy before our eyes. And also, that women only wanted free contraceptives. hmmm
That's just donor patronization..........as usual.
I certainly hope Republicans block her appointment! We know nothing about her position on Israel, Iran, abortion, or our 2nd Admendment right to own any weapon on Earth. Rush said she actually believes the liberal plot to destroy America by convincing everybody global climate change is real! She's just a tree-hugging liberal who wants to move America towards energy independence and a cleaner environment – as if that's good for the country! She should be in the kitchen cooking grits for her man rather than trying to take a man's job! Block her Tea Party! You can do it!
