Giffords to attend State of the Union

(CNN) – Former Rep. Gabby Giffords, critically injured in a 2011 mass shooting, will attend the president’s State of the Union address on Tuesday as a guest of Rep. Ron Barber, who replaced her in the House.

She resigned her seat in Congress in the day after the State of the Union last year. On his way to the rostrum to deliver his remarks in the annual address, President Barack Obama stopped to embrace her.

This year, she will be in the gallery as a guest of Barber, her former staffer, and alongside her husband Mark Kelly, a guest of Sen. John McCain. Barber and McCain are both from Arizona, the state she represented in Congress. Several Democratic members of Congress have urged their colleagues to invite victims of gun violence to the State of the Union in an effort to raise awareness of the issue.

"We'll be listening to what the President has to say and are standing ready to support commonsense legislation in Congress to reduce gun violence," she wrote in a post to her Facebook gun violence prevention group Saturday afternoon.

The group, Americans for Responsible Solutions, is fundraising to support candidates who "stand up for solutions to prevent gun violence and protect responsible gun ownership by communicating directly with the constituents that elect them."

She was in Washington last month and spoke at a gun violence hearing of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

She called on Congress to "be bold, be courageous" with reducing gun violence because "too many children are dying" and "something must be done."

Giffords was wounded in a January 2011 shooting at an event in her congressional district. Six others were killed and 13 were wounded. Gunman Jared Lee Loughner was sentenced to seven life terms in prison for the killings.

Gun Background Checks would be acceptable to the anti-gun control folks if you can guarantee the weapon serial number is not included in the Gun Background Checks.

What is a "Background Check?" A Background Check is a request for information from the gun dealer to the law enforcement agency of the Federal Government (ATF). If the person wanting to buy a gun is cleared the gun dealer is free to sell them the gun.

The problem for anti-gun control folks is that the background check is tied to the serial number of the gun, and the anti-gun control folks believe the government cannot have that information that they consider a violation of their 2nd Amendment Rights.

    This is worth repeating.
Make no mistake, background checks are de facto gun registration. The dealer keeps the forms, but the gun serial number is forever tied to the buyer, and in case of invasion, the first thing the enemy would do is get those forms then get the weapons. Just like in the movie "Red Dawn."

Now, if you doubt this information, call your local gun dealer and ask about it.

Gun registration is unconstitutional, therefore de facto gun registration background checks are unconstitutional. QED.

My heart goes out to Ms Giffords, I wish her the best in her recovery, but I get the feeling she may be being used.

Her 'group' "is fundraising to support candidates who "stand up for solutions to prevent gun violence...".

What do they stand for? What are these solutions? Do you maybe need to know what 'solutions to prevent gun violence' are if you plan to support candidates who stand up for solutions to prevent gun violence?

Maybe the first part of the solution is to identify the causes of gun violence in our society. Then tackle the biggest causes first.

Our media blamed Sarah Palin for the tragic Gifford shooting. Now that same media is covering the fact that Chris Dorner, the former LAPD officer accused of killing three people, got his news from the Liberal media. CNN wont reprint this because they are covering up for MSNBC.
