Palin urges Obama to express condolences for slain ex-Navy SEAL

(CNN) - Sarah Palin said she hopes President Barack Obama "pays his respects" to the slain former Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, who was killed at a shooting range by a fellow veteran on February 2.

In Dallas for the funeral, the former Alaska governor said she and her husband "find it sad to see that flags aren't flying at half staff for this American hero."

"We're surrounded today by American patriots here in Texas – by Chris' fellow veterans and active duty warriors," she wrote on Facebook Monday morning. "In honor of them, I hope our commander in chief pays his respects in some gesture of condolence for their comrade in arms who sacrificed so much to keep him and all of us safe."

Kyle, who was 38, served four combat tours in Iraq and received two Silver Stars, among other commendations. He left the Navy in 2009. He was most known for declaring himself the "most lethal sniper in U.S. history" with more than 150 sniper killings in Iraq, which he described as a record for any American.

"We may never know to what extent Chris kept us free or how many lives he saved by his brave actions in the line of fire. But his fellow warriors know how important he was," Palin wrote.

Shortly after his death, Palin wrote on Facebook that she had lost a friend. She explained that she and her husband, Todd, first met Kyle in Pella, Iowa, when he helped out with security for the premiere of "The Undefeated," a documentary about Palin that debuted in June 2011.

"Later we became friends with Chris when he was on 'Stars Earn Stripes' with Todd," she said, referring to the NBC reality show in which competitors took on missions based on military exercises.

"Chris was a wonderful man, a good friend, and a true American hero who loved our country and served honorably," she continued. "He was loved and admired by so many, and he will never be forgotten."

  1. The REAL Truth...

Once again Failin Palin speaks of which she know nothing. Had she understood the rules (never been a strong point for her ilk anyway) should would realize that while the loss of a former American soldier is real, there is no legitimate reason to fly the flag at half-staff.

It's a sad day in America when the haters here attack a fallen hero, and a women who wishes to pay her respects.

I have no problem with her paying her respects, but when she attempts to use someone's death for politics, she should expect ot be "attacked". As for "attacking" the victim, I see none of that in these message threads. While I admit my post was pretty harsh it's the truth, and you can't "attack" someone with the truth.

"Shortly after his death, Palin wrote on Facebook ..."

Psst. CNN. Palin has been reduced to Facebook rantings for a reason ... can't you just leave at that and allow the rest of us to go on with our lives Palin free?

@compltely disgusted, I thought you were disgusted by this brainless slimeball but I will take your thoughts a little further. The AK mutant sounds like broadwell speaking about her "friend" the general. Little in love with him were you?
We all have friends who have dought and died in wars since the beginning of time.
CNN continues to give this thing air time. Even faux news dropped her!!!!!!

    In reply to Rudy NYC
"Okay, Sarah. And if Pres. Obama had done what you asked, wouldn't you have accused him of politicizing a tragedy?"
And you expect her to answer this question? You need to explain to her what you meant by "accused, politicizing, tragedy", then wait for her to write the answers on her palm.

CNN, why must you continue to print anything that moran Palin says. Nobody cares. She must be getting low on reality show money and needs some more attention. The man was not an active member of the armed forces and as unfortunate as his death was, maybe he shouldn't have taked a guy shooting who was suffering from PTSD. Oh, sorry I forgot that guns are a good thing in her simple little mind.

Sarah Palin is totally irrelevant to everyone but the media who, as usual, are a few years behind.

Palin wasn't there to pay her respects. She was there so trying to stay "relevant" which is funny, because she was relevant for about 5 minutes (until the rest of the world realized just how unitelligent she is). Here's a suggestion. After they finish building "the wall" on the Mexican border, can they build a wall around Alaska so she can't get out?

I agree with most folks here, why do news outlets like CNN continue to give this woman any attention whatsoever. Even Fox News got smart and dumped her. Who is she to criticize Obama.... egads. Enough already.

I voted for her for governor. Now I would not even give her the time of day. History will be harsh on this scrawney little strumpet. She must be the most miserable wench in America...rising so fast and then slamming back to reality. Sarah..too bad you and your two little tarts Bristol and Willow will never again foolanyone other than the whacko nut jobs who support you. I was once one.

I may be mistaken, but when the flag is flown at half staff, doesn't it require the person to be active duty, killed in action?

Well, Sarah P, we should constantly have the flag flown at half-staff every day, if we follow your train of "logic." The reason: military heroes die every day.
As someone else pointed out, you (apparently) weren't "there" to "mourn" either, so why make a pitch to Obama to go "pay respects?"
You're an embarrassment to everyone, mostly to yourself. Now do some good things for a change and leave us all alone, please.

  23. sarah Crying Palin's aunty

Not again. I told that gal to sh.ut up and listen to smart people for a change. But , oooo nooo, she has to shoot off her lipssmack mouth again, in public.
Can't tell you how embarrassed we all feel.
And then, I noticed, that sarah gal was all quiet about those 20 slain kids in Newtown and how some reasonable gun legislation could make it harder for nutcases (who hitherto have not had any criminal record) to obtain deadly weapons.
But like we all say in the family, she's too dumb to see the big picture. She just shoots of her big mouth. Oh well, you can't pick your relatives....

  24. It's Sergeant to you!

Does she go to every funeral of every person who has served and died? Or does she just stand up for the ones who she's met along her celebrity chasing path??

It's all politics as far as I'm concerned and even more about keeping her name in the news... thank God she never made it to the White House. Thanks again McCain!!!
