Palin urges Obama to express condolences for slain ex-Navy SEAL

(CNN) - Sarah Palin said she hopes President Barack Obama "pays his respects" to the slain former Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, who was killed at a shooting range by a fellow veteran on February 2.

In Dallas for the funeral, the former Alaska governor said she and her husband "find it sad to see that flags aren't flying at half staff for this American hero."

"We're surrounded today by American patriots here in Texas – by Chris' fellow veterans and active duty warriors," she wrote on Facebook Monday morning. "In honor of them, I hope our commander in chief pays his respects in some gesture of condolence for their comrade in arms who sacrificed so much to keep him and all of us safe."

Kyle, who was 38, served four combat tours in Iraq and received two Silver Stars, among other commendations. He left the Navy in 2009. He was most known for declaring himself the "most lethal sniper in U.S. history" with more than 150 sniper killings in Iraq, which he described as a record for any American.

"We may never know to what extent Chris kept us free or how many lives he saved by his brave actions in the line of fire. But his fellow warriors know how important he was," Palin wrote.

Shortly after his death, Palin wrote on Facebook that she had lost a friend. She explained that she and her husband, Todd, first met Kyle in Pella, Iowa, when he helped out with security for the premiere of "The Undefeated," a documentary about Palin that debuted in June 2011.

"Later we became friends with Chris when he was on 'Stars Earn Stripes' with Todd," she said, referring to the NBC reality show in which competitors took on missions based on military exercises.

"Chris was a wonderful man, a good friend, and a true American hero who loved our country and served honorably," she continued. "He was loved and admired by so many, and he will never be forgotten."

This clown is beyond irrelevant. Enough ink has been wasted on the "half-governor" and losing VP candidate from 4 years ago.

There is elephant dung more revelent than this bimbo from Alaska. She could have honored this guy by keeping politics out of his death. This trailer trash reality show low life wants to dictate to the President whento fly the flag at half staff. She needs to go home and keep an eye on Russia for us. At least thats a job she can do from home.

I'm not criticizing Sarah for expressing her opinion on Facebook. It's her right and that's what Facebook is for. I'm criticizing CNN for wasting precious html particles to report on what Sarah Palin thinks. Unless of course, the story is intended to be subtle satire, to hold Ms. Palin up as an object of ridicule. In which case, I'm sorry. I mistook it for a real news story.

Thinking of Palin as once a possible hearbeat away from the Presidency just wrenches my guts.

And why is that this woman still speaking???? How can we ever turn this country around when we have a bunch of losers getting so much face time. She should be a prime example how our educational system failed us and the sad thing is that she has a following. I guess there is a club for everyone.

Sara Palin still tries to make noise. She is fired by Fox net work because she was only hot air. Now she wants to tell the commander in chief what to do and not what to do.

As a person who has already politicized this tragedy, she ought to know how its done.

Palin–Just shut your stupid dump, ignorant mouth. I feel sorry for McCain to have selected you to be Vice President. This shows how Republicans can stoop this low to pick a stupid person like.

How about flags at half staff for all soldiers and vets who committed suicide because they had to serve multiple tours of duty in some wars unjustly started by the Bush administration?

You don't order all flags at half staff throughout the nation for the death of one soldier. I doesn't matter who he/she is or what their accomplishments as a soldier were. If Sarah wasn't so dumb, she whould know that.

"Sarah Palin is a true patriot. That is something you cannot say about Pres. Obama. He went to Las Vegas while our servicemen were being murdered in Benghazi."
Where was Palin when during the Benghazi events? Moose hunting? Snow mobiling? Soliciting for money on crap talk shows?

Americans are dismayed by the death of any war hero.

But can't you just go away Sarah Palin? Please. Using this hero's death to get attention is sick.

Sarah Palin is a true patriot.
So... being a "lying, manipulative, self-serving media-hound who's never actually finished anything she started" is the new definition for "patriot"? Seems like some actual service to our Country would be required... or maybe some honorable act...

Palin - the consummate actress. Doesn't know anything about he world, but she sure can be trained to say prescripted lines. Ever notice how she always comes off so confident in a venue where she can just spout prescripted lines, but she consistently makes a fool of herself in any situation where she hasn't been provided prescripted lines to follow?

has this lady no shame at all? Why does she want to be counted as somebody when she is not one. Any self respecting person by now even in politics would have gone away for good considering the way what everyone (the media, the voters both men and women) thinks about her. She has got to be one shameless person.

My most sincere condolences to the family of this fallen soldier. However, I fail to find anything redeeming about the fact that Ms. Palin flies cross country to attend the funeral of an acquaintance she barely knew, and wants our President and our nation to pay attention to her public comments and showboating more than any aspect of the fallen soldier's life or accomplishments. Will she never go away?

Questions for Ms. Palin- Mr. Obama should express his condolences to the family of that ONE victim of gun violence? What about the other 1,750 that have been killed by guns since the Newtown Massacre? What makes this ONE victim special?
I think, Ms. Palin if you'd pay attention, that Mr. Obama is trying to make all of our lifes safer from the gun kooks. That is called honoring the memory of those shot or killed- real heros like Ms. Giffords, and all of the others who were taken before thier time by someone with a gun.
