Rove and Trump 'all good Republicans,' says McDonnell

Washington (CNN) – Don’t look for Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell to choose between celebrity businessman Donald Trump and Karl Rove, the Bush adviser who’s been at the end of Trump’s ire on Twitter.

“I know both of them. They're all good Republicans. We have good disagreements, just like the other side. And when you lose after a presidential race, there's always this soul searching. I think it's healthy,” McDonnell said on Monday’s edition of CNN’s “Erin Burnett Outfront.”

His remarks came after a sustained lashing of Rove by Trump, who wrote various messages on Twitter criticizing the GOP operative for his new group designed to help electable Republicans win primaries.

Trump isn’t the only conservative angry at Rove, whose new group is affiliated with American Crossroads, the super PAC that Rove co-founded.

Brent Bozell, the conservative activist and author, issued scathing criticism of Rove's new group.

"The moderate GOP establishment record in Senate races last year was abysmal: every single one of their candidates lost," Bozell wrote. "We don't need a second Democrat Party in Washington."

All of the sniping is to be expected, McDonnell argued Monday.

“Look, this is just part of the process,” he said. “I'm not that worried about it. I don't call it a civil war. It's a disagreement in the family. And we'll be a stronger Republican Party going forward.

Mr. McDonnell, who fired over 600 school teachers and 400 police officers in Virginia will not be missed. He's done nothing in my state that moves us forward. If you showed his photo around here, nobody would even know who he was. Thank goodness he'll be gone soon. As for Mr. Trump, whom I respect as a business leader, should give 5 million dollars to the Seal who got the head shot heard around the world. Who I might add does not have a job today.

They may be "good Republicans," but they don't understand what the country needs to move forward. We need to rebuild and improve the infrastructure we have and plan on the future. Many teapublicans don't understand that planning for the future means paying now for a return later.

And Mr. Trump, why should anyone listen to you, you have gone bankrupt 6 times and you had made a fool of yourself a number of times. It seems that every time you open your mouth it is to exchange your foot! Left to Right and Right to Left! Thought I explain it to you, since you haven't got it yet!

Soul searching after the loss of an election? What a joke...the Republican/Tea Party doesn't have a soul or heart. Tea Party zealots blame the messenger and the party establishment blame the message. Doesn't look like the party of angry white men is going to reinvent itself soon.

I can't tell who's the bigger idiot, Chump or Rove. They are both ignorant, delusional blow hards who don't have a clue. I wish they'd both just crawl back under the slimy rocks they slithered out of. Or maybe they can take their hundreds of millions and go build a colony on the moon to live on, because they couldn't be any more out out of touch with reality or the people living in it. Maybe they could talk their old pal Newt along for the ride on their way out of the atmosphere. Good riddance to 3 scary loons!

To be a good Republican, must one be 'good' of itself?

This spinning by McConnell is absolutely silly. I am not a fan of Rove, but absolutely he has been a competent political operative. 'The Donald,' on the other hand, is a cartoon. Any Republican who does not repudiate Donny is only keeping Republicans from being taken seriously by Independents like myself..

Rove is an old school RINO. Trump is an arrogant, loud mouthed looney. The GOP benefits from neither.

It was reported that Trump was so upset that he ran around his office repeatedly yelling "you're FIRED, you're FIRED" to no one in particular. Said Trump "Carl Rove can't even get Obama to show his birth certificate, it took a real conservative hero....me....to do that." Trump plans to start his own super pac, naming Sarah 'I quit' Palin as the lead executor and Christine 'I am not a witch' O'Donnel as the CFO. Said Trump, "We'll get some good conservative nutbags in the next election, or I'll give $5 million dollars to the charity of Karl Rove's choice."
