Palin mocks report from #idiotmedia
(CNN) - No, Sarah Palin isn't really scheduled to sit down for coffee with Elvis.
But that was how the former Alaska governor responded to a blog post from The Washington Post which blared the hoax headline, "Sarah Palin plans to reach millions of devoutly religious people' through al-Jazeera."

The source for the phony blog entry was a parody news website, The Daily Currant, which sandwiched an item on Palin – "Sarah Palin to Join Al Jazeera as Host" – between suspect scoops such as "Glenn Beck Calls 911 After Accidentally Eating Halal Pizza" and "Sean Hannity Says Obama 'Sabotaged' Super Bowl."
The paper posted a correction to the story on Tuesday and changed the headline to "Sarah Palin tries to stay relevant."
"An earlier version of this post incorrectly reported that Sarah Palin had signed on as a contributor to the Al Jazeera America news network," the correction read. "The blogger cited a report on the Daily Currant Web site as the basis for that information without realizing that the piece was satirical."
Palin, who regularly blasts the media and recently parted ways as a paid on-air analyst for Fox News, lit into the post on Twitter.
"Hey @washingtonpost, I'm having coffee with Elvis this week. He works at the Mocha Moose in Wasilla," she wrote, adding the reporter's name and coining a hashtag "#idiotmedia."
Minutes later, she added, "A @washingtonpost writer once promised not to write about me for a month. That was a good month for me. #idiotmedia."
The ruse write incorporates some real facts: al Jazeera recently purchased Current TV, the channel founded by former Vice President Al Gore, so that al Jazeera could have access to U.S. distribution networks.
And then there are the – perhaps – almost believable sentences attributed as quotes of Palin: "As you all know, I'm not a big fan of newspapers, journalists, news anchors and the liberal media in general."
It claimed that she would host a weekly program and a travel program about Alaska and be paid nearly $10 million. It wrote her show would be called "Palin's America," a name similar to the actual reality-style show she starred in called "Sarah Palin's Alaska."
