Senate Democrats offer plan to avert mandatory cuts
Washington (CNN) - Senate Democrats proposed a $110 billion measure on Thursday to put off mandatory across-the-board spending cuts set to take effect on March 1.
The package made public by Senate Democratic leaders calls for replacing the so-called sequester cuts with a combination of increased tax revenue from millionaires, ending agriculture subsidies and reducing defense spending after the war in Afghanistan ends.

GOP/Teatrolls respnse: "Nope. We want Medicare and SS to be destroyed and will accept nothing less."
You cut on defense, WARS, but not on public transport, infrastructure, Medicare, healthcare, Education. O.k. You can cut on senate/congress thugs salaries, their benefits, perks etc., but not on middle class America. You cut on needless gun-dealers, their tax loopholes, but not on unemployment benefits. God bless.
I'd start reducing expenses by locking all of the Republicans in the cloak room- at least that way they couldn't waste taxpayer dollars with all their delay, linger, wait and obstruct tactics- could save quite a bit. Then, the adults could get to work.

We make a kiling off of agriculture subsidies. The government will pay you not to grow tobacco so we grow lumber instead, telephone pole pines to be exact. We're making out hand over foot. We've been filing for and recieving the "don't grow tobacco subsidy" for decades on end. We used to grow tobacco on that land, and in fact we still do grow a lot in some areas. But, they will pay us not to grow as much tobacco, which leaves the land free to do with as we please. Since we harvest poles in 20 years cycles, and the lumber companies do all of the work. The rest of the time we lease the land out to hunting lodges on the property. All we do is collect cash every year, with virtually no labor beyond bookkeeping.

With an exception for Graham. He's already hiding in his own closet.

Glad the Senate can show up to work but they can save the ink as everyone has already had a tax increase. Embrace the sequester. It is a miniscule reduction in spending.
let the obama sequestration happen. it was his idea, time for him to swallow hard and accept responsibility. it will be the only real cuts in spending he will do in 8 years.

Well we still have a ways to go to get to the top tax rate of 1858- 87%. It's time to return to that IMHO for the richest 1%.

Any time the GOP/teatrolls want to stop arguing that the USA is the entire world's nanny/big brother to justify their obsession with corpoarte imperialism and the military industrial complex, you be sure to let us know, mmmmkay?

The GOP/Teatrolls' behavior belies your bravado. They and you wouldn't be pushing so hard to try to shift the blame if you weren't already painfully aware that the majority of America, and polls show this, will blame the GOP/Teatrolls.

70% Federal taxes would stimulate the economy beyond belief and bump DGP up to it's highest levels in 50 yrs. If you POTUS-haters did a little research and educated yourself before continually spouting the same dreary tripe day-to-day, you might learn that the times of GREATEST GROWTH in this country have been when taxes on the 1% have been TWICE what they are now.. But then.. the TRUTH never gets in the way of RW posturing...
