Paul to make White House decision in 2014

(CNN) - While Sen. Rand Paul has expressed interest in a potential White House bid, the libertarian-leaning Republican said Sunday he won't make that call until next year.

"We won't make a decision until 2014, but I think I do want the party to become a national party again and not lose sight of how we grow as a party," he said on "Fox News Sunday." "So I will continue in that vein for a couple of years and then we'll decide."

Paul gave the tea party response to the president's State of the Union address on Tuesday and criticized both Republicans and Democrats. He also called on those in his own party to better embrace proposals for overhauling immigration policy.

The Kentucky senator has been known to butt heads with the GOP at times and cautioned after the 2012 elections that the party was "in danger of becoming a dinosaur," citing a lack of inclusiveness.

"We need a new type of Republican (Party), I think, one that involves some of the ideas of libertarian-leaning Republicans and people who agree in a less aggressive foreign policy," Paul told CNN's Brooke Baldwin in November.

Paul, who was elected to the Senate in 2010 with strong tea party support, has already taken steps that signal a presidential bid may be in the cards. He visited Israel in January, agreed to speak at the high-profile Conservative Political Action Conference next month, and even took shots at another potential Republican White House hopeful, Gov. Chris Christie.

Asked Sunday if he would run to largely make his views heard - a similar approach to that taken by his father, three-time presidential candidate Ron Paul - the senator said if he runs, he's going for the goal.

"I would absolutely not run unless it were to win," he said.

Hes only been a senator for two years and now wants to be president. There must be a lot of people in KY smoking some kind of TP weed. Please go back to the holler and sit on the front porch and play your banjo.

(Ayn) Rand Paul? Hell no. We don't need a social Darwinist in congress, let alone the White House.

The Republicans have already started picking the clowns for their next “Send in the Clowns” debates. It has been rumored Ann Romney has chained Mitt to the car elevator and set it on recycle after he said, “If they have an opening in the debates do you mind if I join in?” Old “9-9-9” is just going to be “27” this time he said no Germans were voting for him anyway. “The Donald” has requested at least a year’s lead time so he can get his hair in place. Newt has requested a spray booth so his wife can be ready at the event. As you might recall he was late one time because her hair spray had not dried and she got stuck to the back seat and they needed the “Jaws of life” to get her out. The good news was she brought in her own seat.
Republicans the gift that just continues to give…

Rand Paul is just another TEA/GOP cry baby throwing another tantrum. Sorry Rand, but despite TEA/GOP attempts to keep Democratic voters from the polls, computer generated gerrymandering, and citizens united ruling, TEA/GOP candidates lost by a sizable margin across the board in an election that gave the clearest choice of policies in decades. News for you, Rand, the people don't want you or the trash you, and your ilk spew. Elections have consequences. Quit trying to destroy the USA w/stalling and obstructionism. Nobody likes a spoiled child throwing a tantrum.

You're right, that sounds nothing like our current president at all.

Way to keep the running joke of a paul candidacy alive. Hope he has the guts to run independant, unlike his happless do nothing cretin father. Better for rand to run independant and help America by offering conservatives a second choice to vote for.......

You can always pinpoint the loons in yur community around election time when the paul for president signs sprout like, toadstools on their lawns.

Get the popcorn and the weed out. Get ready to go into that alternate universe called the republican debates. Entertaining and surreal. Bought to you by the republican party, and many other brain dead candidates.

Yeah, we know. You all think that the Republican party should fold up and go away, because the only opinion that matters is yours. Self-righteous much?

livingston: "First person in the clown car? I wonder if he called 'shotgun'?"
These days, right wingers don't call 'shotgun'. They call 'assault rifle'.

Right wingers are fond of calling themselves "staunch conservatives". By that, they mean loyal, faithful, steadfast. But there is another meaning for the word staunch, and it is more to the point:

Staunch: stop, stem, halt, check, hold back, curb, curtail, hinder, restrict, lessen, reduce, decrease, slow, cut off

It appears that the entire focus of the Repugnant Party is to hinder, hold back and halt.
