Obama on the links: Did the lessons pay off?

Palm City, Florida (CNN) - President Obama, fresh off lessons from a top golf coach and a round with Tiger Woods, took to the course for a final time on his Florida private trip Monday.

There were no celebrities or golf experts in today's foursome. The president played for a third day in a row with Trade Representative Ron Kirk, as well as longtime Chicago friend Eric Whitaker, and White House travel director Marvin Nicholson.

While the White House didn't allow media coverage of any of his rounds on the trip, a CNN team was able to capture Obama playing part of two holes. Wearing a dark windbreaker and a hat, Obama took several practice swings before most of his shots.

Did the lessons from Woods' former coach Butch Harmon, and a round Sunday with one of the world's top golfers pay any dividends? There was no word on how the president played overall. But like all golfers trying new things, he found not all improvement happens overnight. He hit one shot from a sandtrap near the green onto the rocks and into the water.

After three days at the exclusive resort, the Floridian, on a holiday weekend break, the president was returning to Washington Monday evening.

By the way right wing trolls, John McCain just reported for work this morning and the first thing he said was Benghazi. Yea, republicans sure know how to create jobs and move the country forward. Benghazi Benghazi Benghazi.

    Oh Really?

PJ, actually the legal holiday is called George Washington's Birthday. It has never OFFICIALLY been changed to President's Day. Unfortunately, the retailers and media have decided that they couldn't have a holiday for the first President and decided to lump them all together.

    But, Thanks For Playing!!!!!!!
Actually, it was Lincoln's birthday on the 12th and Washington's birthday on the 22nd that were combined into a single holiday, which I believe occurred as the federal government recognized the MLK birthday on Jan. 20 as a federal holiday.

Rudy.....Officially, the third Monday in February is celebrated, under the Monday Holiday Law, as Washington's Birthday. Unfortunately, Lincoln's Birthday is no longer celebrated as a National Holiday.

Please, feel free to do the research.

When President Obama is not on vacation we all know what he's doing. He's saving our auto industry, creating millions of American jobs, making healthcare affordable for all Americans, safeguarding against corruption and corporate greed on Wall Street, strenghtening Homeland Security so that no major terrorist attacks occurs again on our mainland, drawing down and ending our wars abroad and helping to bringing democracy to Egypt, Libya and South Sudan and restoring our image, trust and credibility abroad. O' and killing OBL at 3AM. Let's face it, our President deserves a vacation.

I'm not here to argue days of the week. But, if "the third Monday in February is celebrated, under the Monday Holiday Law, as Washington's Birthday", then why on earth do they call the holiday "President's Day" instead of "Washington's Birthday"?

Good morning Rudy and oh really.....

    If I may.....

I'm going to have to borrow our next Presidents phrase.....What difference does it make what the holiday is called?? I remember as a child calling it Washington's birthday, but later it became known as Presidents Day. Is it really that important??Both of you are smart, insightful posters on the same side. Don't let the haters divide you.

Looking forward to reading more posts from you two today.

As usual, the right-wingers begrudge the President a weekend of rest and recreation while their GOP legislators only work two days each week, and still accomplish nothing. This President is a very productive and effective leader.

I just hope Pres Obama and Tiger enjoy their golf outing unobstructed like what goes on Capital Hill..Remember you republican posters out there when the president is golfing near home his golf partner is Boehner so don't be so fast to point fingers saying anything before you get facts, you're good at flying off half cocked most timed so I'm warning you before!!And another little irratating fact that during Bushs first two years he took 477 days off,his father over 500 so don't say anything before doing some reading because with republicans ignorence is pure bliss isn't it!!

When the MLK holiday was passed as a federal holiday, they abolished both Lincoln's Birthday and Washington's birthday as separate holidays, and combined them into a single holiday called "President's Day": so as not add an additional paid day off to an already full holiday calender.
