(CNN) - First lady Michelle Obama's new official portrait was unveiled Wednesday - one which shows what she termed her "mid-life crisis."
In a talk show interview with Rachel Ray scheduled to air Wednesday, Obama discussed her much-talked-about bangs, saying they are her alternative to buying a sports car or bungee jumping.
The photo was taken in the Green Room of the White House just over a week ago. At left is her official portrait taken during her husband's first term in 2009.

Stunning portrait, great First Lady
This has nothing directly to do with Michele, because she's unarguably beautiful, but NO MORE BANGS!!!! My gawd. I put the "bangs" trend right up there with Uggs as some of the ugliest, most unflattering fashion yuck that women have glommed onto in the past decade. I mean really...shoes that give you wookie cankles and do's that hide your pretty faces? Stop it!
I'm so glad she got this done and it made the news so that all of the people that have been laying awake at night wondering how to pay their bills know that she got a new picture with her new bangs and that there is one less thing for them to worry about!
I think she looks great in both pictures, but I actually like her bangs look best. And this from a 65 year old woman who could NEVER pull off the bangs look - even when I was 25. I think Mrs. Obama looks terrific.
SNIFFIT.........we will not require that YOU wear bangs................. but we do like them on Michele. She looks like she'd be a great ffriend...always laughing and haviing fun...I'd like to know her.

Bangs are suggested in beauty salons for a number of reaons. A lot of women (mostly over age 40), choose to use bangs because they feel it gives them that youthful look again. In any event, the First Lady looks beautiful but I must admit, the 2009 portrait is better.
I don't like her new picture. She looks much, much older and more like a grandmother.

It is rumored that that is a wig. Just curious if it's true or not. I am also glad she has developed some class and is covering her arms.
I look at her and I have to wonder; when they take family vacations to Hawaii or wherever, well, who has to wash the dishes? Something tells me it isn't Michelle!

Her clear eyes and flawless skin show just how healthy she is. Obama is a very lucky man and we hope he knows it.
