Video: Reporter says White House threatened him

(CNN) - Veteran journalist Bob Woodward said Wednesday he was threatened by a senior Obama administration official following his reporting on the White House's handling of the forced federal spending cuts set to take effect on Friday.

"They're not happy at all," he said on CNN's "The Situation Room," adding that an e-mail from a senior administration official – who he would not name – communicated a message which caused him great concern. "It was said very clearly, you will regret doing this," he said.

I can not understand why a Senior White House official would stoop to this level. If this is true this should be on the front page of every newspaper and blog site tomorrow. You should not be able to threaten a journalist for simply telling the truth. A free press is very important to our Democracy.

For Bob Woodward to be bullied & threatened by a senior official at the White House for speaking the truth & exposing the truth about the sequester being the idea of Obama & Jack Lew should have every journalist in America sitting up and taking note because no longer may a journalist present an honest account of an event through their own eyes without the fear of a threat from one of Obama's thugs.

This is one scary administration! Obama has decided that he is above the press and America's right to know the truth.

Obama and his entire administration are liars and cover up pros. When will CNN, MSNBC, NYT, ABC, AP, etc... start telling it like it is? America is falling apart due to obama's division, debt spending, cover ups, and lack of real leadership. It's time to stop covering for him CNN. It's time to start responsible reporting of NEWS, not working on pushing an agenda.

Absolutely nothing surprises me when it comes to white house p r aides trying to do damage control and blunt the truth! Whatever is true eventually finds it way out to the public domain. Why try to intimidate one of the most respected and well regarded journalists in d.c. Woodward does his due diligence and knows when facts are not smoke and mirrors or when to say "who knew what and when" and when facts do or do not pass the smell test. Woodward is the best in the fact checking business with or without a "deep throat" love his blunt casual style!!!

The press is supposed to be a watchdog on behalf of the American people. It sounds like Woodward is doing what he should be doing, taking notice of the administration practices that are suspect, to say the least. That any White House official – let alone a senior one – would threaten him is downright terrifying, and should cause all media to rally around Woodward!

Mr. Woodward loves to be in the limelight. He loves controversy as well. His work is of no interest because he has pushed the envelope. Interviews with him were not great. He has told us that this happened but has not told us who said it. Has he spoken with the President about this?

It has been more and more clear that he does not seem to care for this President either. Not sure if any President would be on his list.

Well, this is the man that helped expose Nixon, and consequently caused his impeachment. He's just calling it like he sees it. He's now being bullied by the White House to not report what he knows? Huge red flag!

Woodward dared to expose the prez as the source of "sequester" as a tool to embarrass the opposition. He isn't supposed to be open and honest as a journalist...just toe the Obama line.

Who would have thought that reporting the truth would invoke such a violent response? I have to ask, does a well respected journalist now have to fear for his career when reporting the truths that run counter narrative under this administration?

Obama and his regime just didn't expect anyone from their propoganda department to question the king and his policies;CNN has been one of their best cheerleaders and won't allow anyone but FOX News to question his actions.

Obama created the Obamaquester. Obama owns the Obamaquester. Obama cannot escape the Obamaquester. Threatening Woodward is just Chicago-style politics at its best. Chicago, the most politically corrupt city in America, is where Obama learned to play dirty and deceitful.
