Obama campaign reveals biggest fundraisers around Election Day

(CNN) - Although federal law places limits on the amount an individual can donate to political campaigns and groups, there are the bundlers: "volunteer fundraisers," as President Barack Obama's campaign calls them, who pull together individual donations to form the huge sums campaigns need.

The Obama campaign has voluntarily disclosed their bundlers, and new details out Saturday show some of their biggest volunteer fundraisers are big stars.

The list identifies almost 250 bundlers who raised more than $500,000 for Obama's re-election effort in the fourth quarter of 2012, a period including the weeks before Election Day. The list puts bundlers into several tiers starting with those who raised more than $50,000 and ending with the $500,000-plus bracket. But it does not specify how much an individual contributed.

Overall, Obama's re-election effort raised more than $1 billion.

Some of the most recognizable names topping the list are actress Eva Longoria, film mogul Tyler Perry, actor Will Smith, actress Jada Pinkett-Smith, singer Gwen Stefani and producer Harvey Weinstein.

At least two - magazine editor Anna Wintour and Penny Pritzker, a business owner and hotel heiress - are understood to be on Obama's short list for spots in his administration.

Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley and Virginia gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe make the list, too. Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy and Newark, New Jersey, Mayor Cory Booker are each in the $200,000 to $500,000 range.

Among those rounding out the bundlers are CEOs, lawyers, members of the entertainment industry and Democratic fundraisers. Several hosted fundraisers for Obama's campaign.

Also on the list: Jon Corzine, the former New Jersey governor and senator who was CEO of the now-bankrupt MF Global where investigators say more than $1 billion in customer funds are missing.

I see a bunch of "talented" but out of touch rich celebrities who funded an individual and party who dispite campain promises raised my taxes by about $6,000 this year (2013). I do well for myself, but im not 1%, I make under six figures but under $200,000 a year and my taxes still went up. $6,000 is ALOT of money to me and my family. I guess these selfless celebrities don't see the value in that, and the impact it makes on hard working middle class.

Hollywood celebrities supporting the Celebrity President. No surprises here. Most intelligent people have figured out Obama is a Hollywood and LSM production that no ability or leadership experience but he is a great leftist mouth piece and union organizer. And we wonder why the country hasn't recovered in 4+ years.

So you can expect 4 more years of their Hollywood production... Obamageddon. Party on people, party on.

No big surprises here. It is not surprising that big stars are on the list. Donors probably would flock to be with the stars and on their lists.

If both campaigns used their remaining money to help lower the country's debt that would be news.

Well now we know why the liberals and Obama administration won't go after or even criticize Hollywood for their violent and gory movies. They have bought and paid for by the Hollywood elite. The Colorado shooter dyes his hair red and shots people dresses as the Joker and Hollywood gets a pass. The Newtown shooter spends his life playing violent games and they get a pass again. Isn't it all making sense America? You are being brain washed by the liberal media and their puppet masters in Hollywood and the Whitehouse to blame guns when their constant portrayal of violence is driving the weak minded over the edge.

The media's attempt to keep us arguing and stating a bitter opinion about politics. Not many surprises about this list. Happy about this list. I didn't make the list but if you compare my income with their income versus what was given, then my donation, although small, was about the same percentage. IJS

There you have it. Everytime you buy a movie ticket you are contributing to a political campaign. Bill Still in 2016!

You are right. These people are Not going to benefit from more taxes on the wealthy. They will not benefit from social programs for the poor. They have nothing to gain and yet they back the guy who hopes to help the weakest people in this country. If that isn't a patriot I don't know what is. If they want spots in the administration they need to be confirmed to most spots by congress. You don't get to be an ambassador just because you were on the same debate team in college or gave generously.
Obama promised transparency in government. Sometimes he seems to miss – but he gave us his tax returns and now his donor lists. We know who he is. If you raised $1 billion and you are president I doubt that the list of contributors could be much ore of an ego boost. Mitt wouldn't give us more than 2 years of tax returns and we had to fight t get that much – why? because he has something to hide. He did not want us to know what he did in the past and he tried as hard as he could to cover it up.

Now we know what Corzine did with the money he "lost". It's all just numbers in a computer. Our government is absolute corruption.

1 Billion dollars!! Wow if these "Rich" folks really cared about the poor in American they could have used that Billion and REALLY help them. We now have another four years of finger pointing and blaming everyone except the person in charge. The "Political organizer" who does nothing but travel on the tax payers dime "campaigning and blaming others" for his inexperience and total desire to ruin the American dream. The entire bunch in Washington, all 3 branches, need to be removed and replaced with common sense Americans. No more Millions upon Millions spent a years on lavish conventions, personal jet service and sending our hard earned money over seas when our debt has reach 17 TRILLION dollars. Wake up America before it's too late. We are on the wrong road and must clean house in Washington. I am so sick of the blame game. THEY ALL both Repub and Demos at blame.

One of the things that galls Republicans the most about Obama is that he is even better than they are at winning elections. What is wrong with figuring out how to beat your competition at their own game? I applaud him. The Republicans have underestimated how cagey this guy is from the day he announced he was running for president, and the Republicans just keep on figuring he can't possibly be smart. And, they just keep getting their heads handed to them.

Cutting subsides to big oil companies , they need to cut subsides to Hollywood, after looking at the amount of money they gave Obama and the perks they receive for it , this group of people (Hollywood) don't need federal, state or local government money . Raise their taxes and we may just pay off the debt.

Yanni, So much for having nothing to gain and only doing it to benefit the country they love.

At least the president campaign is honest to disclose the donor list and they all seem to be high profile people whatever their profession might be. We will never the crooks who donated big money to Mitt Romney's losing campaign except the Koch brothers and the guy in Les Vegas. The election is over get over it you sour grapes people.

GOP got their donations from the middle class. Which goes along with my analysis of the Democratic party which is made up of the really rich, the really poor and a few wacko middle class hippies!

Yes, what it's come to cost to run a campaign for the presidency in this country is outrageous. On the other hand and according to this story, that the biggest donors who helped pay the bill had nothing to gain through their support of Obama makes it a bit more tolerable. One can only imagine what the donor list – and the potential payback list – from the Romney side looked like. Well...of course you can only imagine, because the folks on that side sure aren't going to spill.

Why do you think Hollywood is off limits for anything concerned with violence prevention? Why do you think Michelle Obama got her cameo at the Oscars? It should make everybody sick. Hollywood is dictating what should and shouldn't happen in the USA even while pumping out hyperviolent movies. Even in NYC Hollywood gets a break because Gov Cuomo is giving them a pass to use now illegal weapons in movie shoots in NY. Stop pandering to Hollywood!
