House passes GOP measure on government funding

Washington (CNN) - A Republican measure to keep the government funded through September while softening the impact of forced spending cuts on the military and veteran's affairs programs won approval from the GOP-led House Wednesday.

The proposal, known as a continuing resolution, passed by a 267-151 vote, with more than 50 Democrats joining most Republicans in supporting it.

Meanwhile, the president is trying to create a self-fulfilling prophecy by encouraging unnecessary, high profile cuts. Obama, worst president ever. You would have to be a glue sniffing fool to continue to worship at the Obama altar.

The devil is in the details. I assume they want to save the military by throwing the middle class to the dogs. Can't wait for 2014. Time to clean house.

And then it goes to the Democrat controlled Senate where it will die at the hands of Do Nothing Democrat Harry Reid. He hasn't done anything in YEARS. I doubt he is going to start now.

You need to review Civics 101. It's not always Harry Reid blocking bills, because any Democratic Senator can call for a silent filibuster on the bill. It works both ways.

This vote is just another in a series of tactical votes by the House. To only restore military funding is about as partisan as you can get. At least they could have re-appropriated the discretionary spending cuts, or even give the impression that they at least tried to.

You can tell by the comments on here who the glue sniffers are, either that or they are paidschills. No one can possibly be as ignorant as their comments show them to be. That being said, republicans are not much better, they are "democrat lite," with a few exceptions.

Worst ever? I guess that explains why the House Republicans didn't bother to change the "unnecessay, high profile cuts." The House Republicans left all of the bad stuff that you've identified remain in *their* spending bill.

NOTHING throws the middle class to the dogs like 4 years goin gon 8 years of 8% unemployment. Obama and the Democrats are demolishing the middle class by driving them into poverty through joblessness. And all those naive young tools of Obama that are graduating to no jobs? Well they may never see the middle class thanks to Obama.

You are absolutely right. The Obama supporters can't wrap their heads around how awful this president is – so they try to twist our words, and the Repbulicans' efforts, and ingnore the catastrophies that Obama is creating in this great country every day.

There is an old saying out ther that has gotten lost in the shuffle over the last 75 plus years. CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME. What thet means Rudy is, before you ask me to pick up after you, try to do it yourself. In the Liberal world, it is screw the other guy out of his assets. Just elect enought idiots, crooks ?? that promise you the moon and let nature take it's course. It isn't speculation anymore we have the 16.7 Trillion dollar federal debt to prove it. Conservatives and Republician's, mostly try to create businesses that hire workers. Liberal Politicians want to screw them out of it. Hey, happy landings !!

There is bipartisanship in Washington. Another House Republican bill passed with Democratic votes. Speaker Boehner just can't get Tea Partiers in his caucus to vote for his bills.

@Borderless,Donna,ever hear of Bushs debacles while in office leading to this historic multi trillion dollar deficet..Two unfunded wars at approximately 6 billion a month, unfunded Medicare Part D ,extended tax cuts and 800,000 unemployed all unfunded as well and let me ask you all ignorent ones just how did your moron of a president in Bush balance a budget when all these money sucking programs weren't listed..He didn't did he in balancing anything and he lied to all for years and we fell for it didn't we!!And if that didn't burn my buttocks he put all of it on the government charge card and never put a penny towards it did he until Pres.Obama dug it up under some crap Bush had hidden for years..Now being honest ,responsible as a president should be Pres.Obama took the past due programs that Bush had hidden and added them to his yearly federal budget to balance thus showing ignorent republicans the hypocrites here just how much was really outstanding in our nations debt, can you say transparency because your Pres.Bush never was and you ignorently deny it won't yah!!

There is nothing to twist. You offer us a word pretezel each day, and it would be rude not to accept it and acknowlege it for what it is: delusional. The problem is that you will not even examine the failures by the Right over 3 decades that put us into this mess. Yoour continued denial and blame make it worse. There is no easy way out. Pay up.

The last 30 years saw those wonderful 1%ers that you lionize so much grow their incomes at the expense of middle class Americans, who saw their incomes stagnate. That is the direct result of Conservative tax policies. Why have conservatives advocated for subsidizing the wealthy? Happy landings, jackwagon.

My, oh my, oh my. It's been a while since I shook the right wing's tree so hard. I see you right wingers really don't like the phrase "economic apartheid". It is really so much more accurate than "war on the middle class." I think it is a keeper. I hereby, donate "economic apartheid" to the public domain.

They've ALL made mistakes and noone is claiming that any president has been perfect. That doesn't change the current issue of what direction this president is trying to force this country in – a Marxist one. This president has a radical agenda – not like any other Republican or Democrat that this country has seen before. Holding grudges about past Republican presidents isn't going to change that fact.
