(CNN) - In an interview on CNN's "Erin Burnett OutFront," Sen. Rand Paul responded Thursday to criticism from his fellow Republican Senate colleagues, John McCain and Lindsey Graham, about his filibuster.
"These are the same two senators that argued in favor of indefinite detention," Paul said. "Which means, and I asked sen McCain directly, I said does this mean you take an American citizen without a trial and send them to Guantanamo Bay for the rest of their life without ever charging them? And he said yes, if they are a safety risk. Who gets to decide? Senator McCain? Does he get to decide if you are an enemy combatant?"
Due process is important, but holding up a nomination for an unrelated post is being silly to put it nicely. Rand Paul is too far to the right for all but the Libertarian party and that is what he should be; not a Republican.
Rand is such a clown.
Sem. Paul chose to use the filibuster to demand an answer from A.G. Holder. Had he even asked for the information and when did he do so? He certainly did not publish any letter that he wrote. At this point I do not believe that drones will be used to target citizens. I am much more concerned about citizens in this country who do not have enough food, who are homeless, and who do not have jobs. When will we see or hear about a filibuster to get Congress to work on programs and legislation which will deal with these issues.I have faith in the government and the American people to do the correct thing.
well american citizens should be well informed that voices will be silenced and not given the opportunity to have a fair trial if that's the case and what about the inhumane injustice of others when they are detained in other countries outside the US that are from here!
Ah, the circular firing squad has begun ....
Rand Paul is a grandstanding idiot .
He shall never be of consideration for any position other then Tea party Aqua Buddha Dentist, Libertarian Prince of the Kingdom of stupidity .
This is an EASY one, AMERICA loses!!
As has been correctly indicated the drone policy started under the last Bush it was never questioned then.
The idea that a drone would be used against a US citizen is a farce. The person would be arrested by the FBI and tried as many have already. If they were proved to be an active terrorist/ enemy combatant then again under laws passed by bush he/ she can be detained indefinitely.
All this was a filibuster against the CIA appointment who has no say over domestic terrorists treatment he has to pass it onto homeland security or the FBI and at that stage its just CIA intell if any.
I wish he would devote similar energy to economic recovery and job creation or real budget compromise.

Hodgson.
What Rand Paul, did was childish and a complete waist of time. And he really thinks he stands a chance of being President in 2016. we republicans had better stand our ground.the tea party has cost us so much and if they continue with this act we will be wiped out. How did a poor uneducated fat state KY, get so much power anyway?
The 2016 roaches are coming our of their filthy little holes.
None of these bozos have a chance but keep trying to put your name our there. More ammunition (to use a favorite rethug word) come back at ya' time.
Hey...don't we just love the Tea Party? Like a root canal
And still.......The All Time Champs of Stupid, THE GOP/Tea Party. A collection of idiots the world will never see again after 2014. And hopefully their modest (actually non existent) intellect supporters will go back under rocks they crawled out from or return to their planets
It takes a whole lot of stupid to support the GOP/Tea Fools. I guess that's what Jindal was saying. It just further illustrates the need to improve education in this country or run the risk of the Redumblican party continuing to grow and have a future. That's way Santorum was advocating "...not everyone should go to college" If everyone did, who would support the GOP/Tea Fools?
Once again Rand Paul is right on the money and Graham and McCain need to retire and leave the Congress
Funny how libertarians are lauded as being too far to the right or extreme right wing, but in the same breath critics also claim they are left of Obama....hypocrites...pick one already, I like to think libertarians are more middle ground people striking a nice balance between what has become stupid differences between the parties.
Like Reid said to Paul you have to have strong convictions and a strong bladder to do a stunt like that ..Just for a simple NO from Eric Holder, where are republicans priorities these days because its not for anything to help americans like jobs, infastructure, nope, stupid drones are Pauls cause..Here's to shooting yourself in the feet again republicans, just where will this clown circus stop and I hope its soon!!
posturing Paul is looking to see how he can become relevant for 2016.....when pigs fly
