Hagel ordering review of new drone medal ranking

Washington (CNN) - In an about-face, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel has decided to review the criteria of a recently created "drone award" that ranked achievements in related warfare and other modern combat skills above the most noted recognition for bravery on the battlefield.

The Distinguished Warfare Medal, which was approved last month by Hagel's predecessor, Leon Panetta, recognizes "extraordinary direct impacts on combat operations." But the honor denotes that the action is not bound by a "geographic limitation," meaning drone operators could be eligible.

As a Viet Nam Vet (dirty boots), I have more respect for an E-3 with one row and a P/H than a general with 6 rows of medals, the officers ITR/WTG sat around and nominated each other for medals so they could look good at home. This "drone medal" is the worst insult to the guys on the ground.
An ATTA-BOY should not out rank a "Star" of P/H for doing their job on the "video war game"

Uh, huh. I've noticed that no one seems to be bold enough to make a smart remark about drones. Uh, huh.

"Hey, how does all the Dems and WH feel about J-Lo, Jay Z, and many of the other "elite" entertainers being some of the highest paid entertainers right now? They would be considered RICH and I thought the RICH had to pay their fair share. Oh, I forgot, as long as they are donors to Obama then they don't get chastised for working and getting paid for it and being RICH. The "charm" will run out soon. Two faced agendas don't work."

What's hard to understand about this? THOSE PEOPLE SUPPORT RAISING TAXES ON THEMSELVES TO HELP OUR ECONOMY AND OUR FELLOW AMERICANS. It's not the simple act of being rich that people are upset with.

    Nuance. Get some.

I think most folks would agree with you. Hagel was an actual "dirty boots" combat vet. Look at "ordering a review" as possibly a good thing. It would not at all surprise me if he fully understands your views.

I understand Hagel but people here have to understand that even though you're in San Diego operating drones you're still at war..It's as stressful if not more than being an air traffic controller helping land a 767 thats loaded with passengers gets in before a big storm..My son trained flying drones and he complained how stressful it was both physically and psychologicly hoping you don't kill innocents you can't see on the ground or in building being attacked while protecting your guys some distance away so they don't get ambushed or attacked..That's what my son trained for and proud he is for saving our troops lives thousands of miles away...
