Washington (CNN) - You probably recognize Sen. Rob Portman from his tireless campaigning for Mitt Romney in 2012. He was even on the short list to be Romney's running mate.
He's been a leading Republican voice on economic issues for four decades.
Now, the prominent Ohio conservative will be known for something else: reversing his hardline position against gay marriage.

Screw this noise. The guy is a politician voting on all kinds of issues that involve all of us and he doesn't have the capability to step in other people's shoes or draw a hypothetical in his mind like "How would I feel about this issue if my son or daughter were gay or lesbian?" Is this suppose to make me happy? You betcha people will be all "warmed" by this story.
Portman is worthless. A man should keep shameful family secrets in the family, not blab to the media.
I think you mean "Republican", not "conservative". Portman is hardly the latter.
Why do these staunch republicans change their minds about an issue only when it effects them? too bad none of them are poor and in need of affordable health care....
I love the smell of flip flops burning in the morning......
Opps doesnt he know you cant believe that and be a member in good atanding of the Republican party 😉
Hell has frozen over ...a republican has made a tuff decision!!! To top it off it was the right one!!! Wow he better be ready for the haters!
GOPers "get it" ONLY WHEN it happens to one of their own.
you can love your children ..but rights right andwrongs wrong
Portman is just another gop goof but he would have gotten more votes than lyin Ryan the hotdog salesman and Eddie munster look a like !!!!
