Ex-presidents cost taxpayers millions

(CNN) - As if we needed further proof that being leader of the free world is a cushy gig, a new report shows that the perks keep rolling in long after a commander-in-chief leaves office.

According to the Congressional Research Service, taxpayers forked over $3.7 million last year to pay for the four remaining presidents: Jimmy Carter, George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton. And that number doesn't include the additional money we spend on their lifetime of Secret Service.

So what! We give other countries billions to build roads and schools and bombs {some use the bombs on us and kill our troops}. The least we can do is protect of our President's. Why wont cnn talk about all the billions that we spend on unproductive Americans who sit on they the lazy butt and do nothing, but will get a fat check in the mail every month and a food card to buy steaks and name brand cheeze and un healthy food. Then we will spend keeping alive when they blood pressure reading hit as high as heaven.

They should be on their own again by now! Have they no pride? The secret service expenses should be all they are getting by now! I like makin my own way, doin things for myself and takin care of me and mine but to just keep takin from the people like that is wrong.

While I'm not exactly rolling in dough, this really doesn't seem all that unfair to me. Not for our former Presidents. What I have a problem with is Congress and the perks, pensions, healthcare, etc. they receive after leaving office. We need caps on those dollars as well as term limits. If we are going to fix something, I say FIX THAT...

Chump change compared to what ex-Wall Street bankers and CEOs receive as a part of their golden parachutes.

Why aren't there any complaints about "less gov'mint" when we're spending to protect republican presidents? Considering the way George W. Bush left this country, he should be ashamed to take anything related to the government (even if does come with the job). After killing American men and women, destroying our pensions and causing small businesses to become so small, they went out of business. The nerve of some people.

Wont be an issue until Mr Obama is a former president. Then the people will worry about the cost.
