White House budget coming April 10
(CNN) - The White House will release its budget for the 2014 fiscal year on April 10th, Deputy Press Secretary Josh Earnest announced at Thursday's White House briefing, more than two months after the February deadline.
Previously White House officials would only say the budget was coming the week of April 8, without revealing a specific date. Republicans were sharply critical of the delay, which came after protracted negotiations over spending cuts and tax rates.
When Obama unveiled his brackets for this year's NCAA college basketball tournament, Republican leaders in the House seized the opportunity to highlight the delay in releasing his budget.
"Clutch with his brackets. Late with his budgets," a video produced by the House GOP conference proclaimed.
And Rep. John Boehner, the House speaker, devised a "top ten" list of reasons Obama was late delivering his budget plan. Among the items Boehner suggested was vacation planning and trying to charm Republicans by taking them to dinner.
In early March, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney explained the delay was a result of "the series of crises, largely manufactured, that we and Congress have been having to deal with over the past several months."
April 10, the date of the budget release, also happens to be the day Obama will dine with a group of Republican senators. It will be a different group than the lawmakers he had dinner with earlier this month.
Last week, the Democrat-controlled Senate passed its first formal budget proposal in four years. The non-binding plan, which calls for a trillion dollars in tax increases, passed 50 to 49. No Republicans voted for the bill, and four Democrats voted against it.
The GOP-controlled House is expected to shoot the Senate budget down, just as Democrats in the Senate voted down a budget proposal passed by Republicans in the House earlier this month.
The two budget proposals, along with the president's, will likely be used as a basis for future negotiations between the parties.

Anybody want to bet on whether Obama's budget gets a single vote of support in either the House or Senate, even from his own party? So far he has gotten ZERO votes in favor of ANY of his budgets. Will President ZERO continue his streak? My money is on him.

The budget better include opening the White House doors again to The American People, and eliminating extravagant vacations for the Obama family.
Good. With the recent budget signings that we have seen in recent days, we now know what spending and revenue should be through the end of the fiscal year. Having that information at hand, is the only way that you can make a budget estimate based upon fact and not conjecture. It really makes me question how Paul Ryan was able to come up with his Ryan Plan 3.0.
Yawn. It cracks me up on how legislators are openly opposed to everything the President proposes, but once the President takes it to US, The American People, the all of a sudden those legislators want to jump on his bandwagon. The President is ahead of Congress and the Court on issues pertaining to moving this country forward.#thatisall
trillion dollar deficits as far as the eye can see... over $22 trillion in debt when he leaves office, doubling our debt in 8 years and adding more debt than all other presidents combined..
mr. "i'll cut the deficit in half in my first 4 years" will add to his long list of failures, and lies, to the american people.
Why bother? He has no intention of following it anyways? He'll do whatever he pleases, spend whatever he pleases, as he believes himself above the law.

Cute, but ss long as people like Paul Ryan keep trying to inflict Right Wing Social Engineering through their budgets, any budget is DOA. There is no point in submitting a budget when the GOP keeps trying to change reality to suit their ideology, which is an un-American, warped perversion of capitalism designed to create a Banana-Republic, Fascist oligarchy.
That will be a monstrous joke, on the country.

It's kind of hard to do calculate a credible budget when you do not know what spending and revenue will be, both of which were finalized for the current fiscal year just a few days ago. How is it that Paul Ryan was able to manufacture a budget plan without those numbers defies my understanding. He's either a total quack, or a complete con artist. I say the latter.
Nice. Republicans will have something to complain about that isn't made up.

Geeeeez... where have I been? I could have sworn we were in FY 2013, which began October 1 2012 and doesn't end until this coming September 30. Rudy... thanks for clearing that up... when did it change?

Where have you been and when did it change? You've been under a rock, or living in the right wing media bubble. Continuing Resolutions that sustin the government for a few months at a time, render an annual to a moot point. We've been running on CR's since TARP.
@freedom – The inaccurate talking points just flood in from the uninformed. President Obama has averaged 29 vacation days per year, while the three most recent GOP presidents averaged 104 days per year over their combined 20 years in office. Who's vacations do you think cost more?

@ just sayin – You're thinking about Reagan, who tripled the national debt, or W, who doubled it. Under Obama, the annual deficit has been cut almost in half from the $1.5T deficit he inherited in January 2009 (FY 2009). Those deficits were caused primarily by the Bush tax cuts, two wars, Medicare Part D, and the reduce revenue from the Great Recession – all complements of the GWB Administration. We have spent the last four years trying to dig out of the mess.
