Carrey calls conservative media critics 'bullies'

(CNN) - Jim Carrey's video mocking the late actor and National Rifle Association President Charlton Heston didn't please some conservatives - not that Carrey himself minds.

The video, a spoof version of the old comedy show "Hee Haw," featured Carrey playing both Heston and the leader of a country-western group, mocking Heston's declaration that gun control advocates would have to pry his firearms "from my cold, dead hands"

Conservative pundits claimed Carrey was inappropriately denigrating Heston, who died in 2008. Taking particular aim at, presumably, Fox News - the spelling below is his - Carrey responded to the critics Friday.

"In my opinion Fux News is a last resort for kinda-sorta-almost-journalists whose options have been severely limited by their extreme and intolerant views; a media colostomy bag that has begun to burst at the seams and should be emptied before it becomes a public health issue," Carrey wrote in a statement.

"I sincerely believe that in time, good people will lose patience with the petty and poisonous behavior of these bullies and Fux News will be remembered as nothing more than a giant culture fart that no amount of Garlique could cure," he continued.

Heston, who died in 2008, rose to fame as an actor in movies like "The Ten Commandments" and "Ben-Hur." Later in life, however, he turned his attention to political advocacy, eventually becoming the president of the National Rifle Association from 1998-2003.

Carrey starred in movies like "Ace Ventura Pet Detective" and "The Mask." He actively argues his case for gun control on Twitter @JimCarrey.

A spokeswoman for Fox News did not respond to a request for comment.

Jim Carrey calls the media bullies for calling him on the carpet, even though he if free to mock and satirize whomever he pleases. His formal statement is that of a whining, foul-mouthed kid. What a buffoon. In the big picture of whose opinion matters, Carrey's doesn't.

Go Carrey, we love you! Tell them bamboozles what morones they are – the NRA! Fux News! Limbaugh and Heston (may he rest in peace after the gun has been prayed from his cold nuckels)

An article about how "conservative media" are bullies, filled with quotes from disgraceful clown Jim Carrey, of the liberal media, bullying conservatives by calling them a "culture fart" and a "media colostomy bag". Has Jim Carrey played so many retards in his career that he's actually turned himself into one? Can't help but chuckle at the irony here.

With his infantile, toilet-humor diatribe, Carrey just confirms what a washed up has been he truly is, confirming everything that The Five had to say about him. Carrey's video was not only insulting to Heston, it was insulting to everyone who lives between New York City and LA; in other words, most of Middle America. Color Carrey another clueless, foul-mouthed, far left liberal nut job. So, Jim, you want to sue me, too?

There they go again- resorting to name calling. He makes fun of dead man then when others call him on his lack of taste he goes 3rd grader on then. He ought to watch Chris Mathews sometime.

I think Fox News will be broadcasting long after Jim Carrey's fifteen minutes of fame is up.

Who cares what Jim Carry thinks about anything. He is not reflective of any significant segment of the population. Mr. Carrey, although a good comedian, has shown through is own personal behaviors and choices that he is as extreme in his liberal viewpoint as Fox News is conservative.

Thanks CNN for not mentioning Heston's civil rights stance.

Jim Carrey is a sad example of a misguided loony tune who is grasping at straws to save his dismal career.

I'll be interested in seeing him doing a minstrel show parody about the gun violence engaged in by the Bloods, Crips , and other primarily African American gangs in California and maybe a mariachi band parody to cover the violent activities of the Mexican Mafia linked gangs that are warring with the other gangs for drug turf.
Oh yeah none of that will happen because THAT would be hate speech, stereotyping, and totally offensive. Too bad Mr. Carrey feels that doing that to average rural white people is perfectly OK. Carrey has made it clear that he is a totally bigoted urban elitist who has no problem dishing out hate speech.

With such maturity and intelligence, I'm stunned his career has stalled so fantastically. Let's face it, Jim Carrey kinda-sorta-almost-movies are a last resort for actors whose options have been severely limited by their extreme lack of talent and relevance. In his current film (which was, by far two of the most painfully boring hours of my life), Carrey's character actually resorts to drilling a hole in his own head to please his fans. Given his one-dimensional acting, perhaps Carrey ought to give that a try.

Insults a dead man who can't defend himself.

    Calls other people bullies.

    Stick to movies, Jim.

Carrey should have paid attention to what happened to the Dixie Chicks when they started commenting on politics...

Surprise, surprise ... It's another tired, washed-up hack looking to score some cheap points with the liberal studio bosses. I used to think Jim Carrey was funny, then I realized he really wasn't acting in Dum and Dummer. Reality check, Jim. What was your latest box office gross? Jokes ... That's all anyone wants to hear out of you, funny man.

It is sad to watch has-beens unravel . Once all your friends are replaced by employees paid to fawn over you, the myopia grows exponentially.

Jim Carrey is an actor has been. His best movie couldn't hold a candle to Charlton Heston's worse one. No Jim, people aren't getting tired of Fox News....but we are getting very tired of you hollywood liberal elites thinking that we really care what you folks think! You folks wouldn't have a clue as to what the average citizen of this country has to deal with every day. So take your opinions and do us all a favor and keep them to yourself!

I don't like Fox News either but...

I believe that Jim Carrey will be remembered as a has been comedian who was once funny and became mentally unstable... and this is the only attention he could muster for his failed movie career. I would not be surprised if this whole thing was/is a stunt to get his name in the media so people will remember him and go see his movie with Steve Carroll.

With all of the name calling Carey uses in the video, it seems that he has no ground on which to stand to accuse others of being bullies.

Although I think Heston was a good actor, he was also a bigot in every sense of the word and I take comfort knowing he's taken his ignorance (and his love of guns) to another world and out of our lives.

No Pun Intended, however Carry is a joke. He has not had a hit in years as what he believes to be humor is nothing more than a poor representation of his attempt to act. In the hopes of getting his name back in public he feels the need to mock and then hide behind a dead person who cannot defend himself. The media as a whole believes what he did is cowardly, so it is not just the conservative media who has taken exception to his sick antics.
