Poll: GOP too inflexible; Democrats spend too much

Washington (CNN) - As the GOP undergoes internal reviews of what went wrong in last year's election and how to improve and expand their party, a new poll suggests a quarter of Republicans think their party is inflexible and unwilling to compromise.

The Gallup poll released Monday also indicates that one in ten Democrats think their party spends too much and increases the deficit.

The Gallup survey asked Americans to name, in their own words, one or two things they liked and disliked about the two major political parties.

Among Republicans, 26% said the thing they disliked the most about the GOP is its inflexibility and unwillingness to compromise, with 14% saying what they disliked the most was the party didn't stand up for its positions and gave in too easily.

Ten percent of Democrats said what they disliked the most was their party’s spending, which they said increases the deficit. That was the only answer among Democrats to register in double digits.

Nearly one in five Republicans said there was nothing they disliked about the GOP, compared to 37% of Democrats who had no criticism of their party.

As for what they liked the most about their party, one in five Republicans named better fiscal policies designed to reduce the federal debt. An equal amount named the party’s conservative views.

According to the survey, 22% of Democrats said caring about the middle and working class is what they like best about their party. All other answers were in single digits.

The Gallup poll was conducted March 20-21, with 1,020 adults nationwide questioned by telephone. The survey's overall sampling error is plus or minus four percentage points.

Please name the last Republican President to manage the government to a SURPLUS. Anyone? Would it help if I MAKE THE TEST AN "open book" exam ?

Donna, we are waiting. Fair, where for art thou? Folks stop the reactionary diatribes against all thing Obama or Democratic and acknowledge the facts. Deficits SHRINK under Democratic Presidents and RISE under Republican ones. At least the true independents acknowledge this.

The Democrats who are critical of Obama expenditures require basic economics lesson. Its not total expenditure volume that, sometimes, does matter, but the objective economics consideration, even political. At Obama Tenor US was virtually under seige by varying economic & political forces....the recession, the China growth, decaying America (in infrasture, productivity, unemployment, etc). For America to think of balancing their budget in the next 10 years, is an abberition...In 10 years time, China should be living in space(another world). Obama saw that...grow demand, improve infrastures, create conditions for productivity....& tries to designing new technological routes....not spending for 'fun',
    For the Repubs, their disruptions/distractions
to the Obama Presidency is unpardonable.

4+ years later, $6 TRILLION more in debt, a stagnant economy, record unemployment for record time, record deficits ($1 trillion a year as far as the eye can see), Obamacare a disaster and it hasn't even started full force (just wait!), record numbers of people on food stamps, record numbers claiming/faking disability to survive, numerous countries in the middle east on fire and in civil war, Iran on track to get their nuclear weapon, North Korea threatening war, AQ spreading across Africa, our ambassadors getting murdered after being abandoned....

But all is well Obama Fantasy Land as the looney left drinks the koolaide and chants the personality cult mantras just like they do in North Korea. Kim Sung Obama, Dearest Leader, we follow you to truth and victory, with eyes wide closed and brain removed as we march to glorious leftist victory.
