So far, forced spending cuts not as bad as advertised

Washington (CNN) - Forced government spending cuts, known in Washington jargon as sequestration, took effect a month ago amid doomsday predictions of freed criminals, weakened borders and a crippled military.

President Barack Obama and other federal officials warned that the harshest impacts would hit in April, with worker furloughs and program cuts rippling through the economy to stunt growth during a sluggish recovery.

Interesting picture to go with the topic of the article. Someone's having fun, so let's play along.

Sometimes I think republicans just doesn't have a life.

24/7 Obama is on their brain.

Please, get a LIFE. Are you ever HAPPY?

All you old men, all you need is a young woman, then maybe we can at least see a smile.

The cuts won't kill us, but 1- They'll lead to worse Govt. Services which reinforces the Repub. mantra that Govt. can't do anything right and 2- They'll be a drag on Economic Growth & Job Creation which also helps Repubs politically., to hell with the Middle Class.

We haven't even begun to feel the adverse effects of sequester, but please believe we eventually will. Shipyard workers in my city are already receiving their furloughs.

Tell it the to the person and his family affected by it. Apparently for CNN it is not as bad as it is predicted.

Obama owns this deal on spending cuts! I don't like his style of leadership so maybe I will have to sit back and see how it works out. If we are all lucky we will survive till we can get a real president without the warped agenda this one has. He discriminates too much obviously he doesn't like the rich. Which is funny because he is! Don't like anyone that doesn't have the same view he does. Is very narrow minded.

Obama is doing his best to hurt the American people with these cuts. He'll make these cuts as painful and visible as possible to drive home the point that every single dollar in that $3.5 TRILLION of federal spending is absolutely positively critical to the country. As a matter of fact, he wishes he could spend $6 trillion a year because he knows far better than you, what all your money should be used for.

Do you know any other songs? Actually, the right wing has been predicting that the cuts would come to pass as recently as this past January. Then they switched to "Obama owns it" when polling consistently blamed Republicans.

As far as not liking his style of leadership goes, Speaker Boehenr likes "98%" of the Presdient's spending. .

Don't worry, it's coming. It's remarkable that CNN is trying to sell the idea that the sequester is "no biggy" when there's an article a little ways up on the Ticker that points out that the furlough notices only just got sent in the POTUS' office. That's true for the vast majority of people who are going to take a screwing from the sequester. All those furlough WILL be hampering demand and causing problems and the longer and harder CNN promotes the "it's no big deal" nonsense...falsely and without any solid evidence to back it up other than "it don't hurt me yet only 2 weeks into it"...then the longer the GOP/TEatrolls get to drag their feet on fixing it AND the longer it will work its damage on the economy's recovery. Good job CNN...way to keep your conservative advertisers from getting butthurt.

"He'll make these cuts as painful and visible as possible"

What don't you understand about the sequester requiring INDISCRIMINATE, across-the-board cuts? Are the words too big for you? There's no way for Obama or anyone else to "make these cuts as painful and visible as possible." They have no discretion to pick and choose any of it. EVERY aspect of every program in every agency affected must be cut by a certain percent. There's no cherry-picking about it.

Hope ppl r starting 2 get more educated 2 those facts and dont b complaciant n all future voting years.

Actually I don't think much of Boehner either. We need better leadership across the boards. Our government looks like a playground at an elementary school with a bunch of children throwing hissy fits! From our fearless leader all the way down the line!
