(CNN) - Former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords was nearly killed more than 2 years ago by a man with a gun. Today, her brain injuries make speaking difficult, and yet she has become an active spokeswoman for new restrictions on guns.
Ironically she has not lost her love of guns. Target practice is still a form of entertainment at her mother's house deep in the Arizona desert. Her husband Mark Kelly uses pots and water bottles as targets, while Giffords watches from the patio with her mother cheering him on.

Kelly isn't shooting with just any kind of gun – he's using a Glock 9 millimeter handgun, the same kind of gun his wife was shot with.
"But in that case it had a magazine that held 33 rounds," he said. "This, when it's full, holds 17."
The gun is actually Giffords' – Kelly said he gave it to his wife as a gift years ago.
"She's a gun owner," he said. "She's from the West."
Giffords and Kelly argue because of their love of guns, they have more credibility in their fight to expand background checks to private gun sales.

You can't be against "high capacity" guns and still own them... This is liberal hypocrisy at best!!!
*********************
Neither is talking about a " culture of life" and then flooding the country with guns in the name of defending yourself against a government that intrudes into your life in a minimal way.....Rightie hypocrisy at its worst. Freedom and Liberty comes with responsibilities and obligations, not anarchy.
I doubt her statement is true. They are trying to position themselves as "moderate" gun control people. There is no such thing as "moderate" control. Freedom and control are absolute and the opposite of each other. They espouse gun control, not gun freedoms.
Do not trust them.
Gabby, that's fantastic for you that you have guns "for sport". I'm happy you have plenty of money and live in a secure and well-protected area. My guns are to protect my family and me from criminals and from crazy politicians. Try all you like, but you can not regulate evil or crazy – it's unfortunately a part of the human condition.
The antigun nuts will NOT win this one either...they just refuse to accept what's coming...again....we don't want nor need any more gun control. I will remember in the voting booth any of my legislators who vote against my 2nd Amendment rights and show them what I think of their vote! This country is not ready for socialism...yet!
Has she taken a mental test to see of she should even own guns.
"Gabby Giffords still appreciates gun culture"
Then shutup about wanting to restrict our rights.
Blah blah blah... hypocrisy... blah blah blah... called out on trying to buy and sell... blah blah blah... paid shills... blah blah blah... sells principles, ethics and morality for cash. Worst off is trying to show themselves as caring when in reality in their incessant pursuit for more gun control they are destroying the liberties and freedoms of every law abiding American citizen. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Freedom is conditional to living up to the obligations in the society that you choose to live in. Control is only needed to keep those few, selfish people who want to have the benefits of freedom with none of the responsibilities. We have a body count in this country from gun violance that exceeds that of most civil wars: is that a benefit of our society, or a curse?
"My guns are to protect my family and me from criminals and from crazy politicians" @2nd amendment: What do you, live next door to Michele Bachmann or Louie Gohmert?
Is Ms. Giffords, by the liberal standards for gun ownershp, mentally capable of being a responsible gun owner? After all, the main crusader for gun control, Dianne Feinstein, believes that veterans are not mentally stable enough to be able to own guns. Ms. Giffords was severely injured by a shot to the head and shows signs of permanent brain damage.
Guns for me, buy not for thee.
The liberal mantra has always been "Do as I say, not as I do."
Gabby and Mark – I respect you both, and I'm sorry for what you all had to go through. I am glad that you both still enjoy owning guns and shooting. I am fairly certain that you both understand that the gun laws you are campaigning for will do nothing to prevent any future gun murders, that all they will do is restrict law abiding gun owners, and add to the already enormous workload of law enforcement units everywhere. You can't play both sides of the street. I would invite you instead to campaign for protecting the 2nd Amendment and enforcing the gun laws already on the books, campaign for better mental health programs. Please reconsider, Gabby and Mark.
