Breaking: Bombing suspect won't be charged as 'enemy combatant'

(CNN) - The surviving suspect in last week's Boston Marathon bombings, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, "will not be treated as an enemy combatant," but rather will be prosecuted "through our civilian system of justice," White House spokesman Jay Carney told reporters Monday afternoon.

"Under U.S. law, United States citizens cannot be tried in military commissions," he said.

    @Patrick in Wisconsin

    This beast doesn't deserve to be in prison or our court system. His citizenship should be denounced. Get the information from him and then he should get the death penalty – why should he live out his life in prison, and the taxpayers pay for it? And our president can't even call this TERRORISM! Get it??

    No need to make the Boston Bomber into an "enemy combatant" or to seek the death penalty. Those actions will dear the souk of the prosecutors and the culture. A fair and timely trial will undoubtedly be quite effective. Keeping someone behind bars Without the death penalty is much cheaper than putting someone on death row for years.

    @freedom

    Would you feel more satisfied if the president himself water boarded Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and sent you a DVD copy ?

    Benghazi , Benghazi , Benghazi !

    I don't see you posting any comments about the explosions at the fertilizer plant in Texas . You must be for less government , less regulations and environmental protection .

    Wow...look at all the inhuman beasts condemning a man without a fair trail. You should all be ashamed of yourselves for falling for media hype and mob justice. There is a photo of this man leaving the scene after the explosions still wearing his backpack...LOOK IT UP OR SHUT UP!

    Step 1: Daily beatings for this waste of human flesh until he begs to be killed.
    Step 2: Listen to his plea and laugh hysterically.
    Step 3: REPEAT STEP 1.
