Leahy: Boston bombings exploited in immigration debate

Washington (CNN) - Partisan tempers flared at a Senate immigration hearing on Monday as top Democrats accused opponents of comprehensive reform legislation of using last week's Boston Marathon bombings to slow or even derail the bill.

"Last week, opponents of comprehensive immigration reform began to exploit the Boston marathon bombing," said Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy, D-Vermont.

Are you still blaming immigrants on highly organized crimes perpetrated by corporate terrorists?

Liberals must be having a hard time in trying to find a way to spin the Boston Marathon Bombings so they can blame it all on Republicans/Conservatives/George W. Bush/Christians/White People/Tea Party/NRA/Climate Change. I'm sure that they are working on it right now.

Just when you think the GOP might do the right thing, they fall back into their stupid, hateful pattern of know nothingness. PLEASE vote these obstructionists OUT!

    Expoited?????

Not at all. There have been SERIOUS questions raised, and rightfully so. This country has been far to willing to open the flood gates of immigration, both illegal and legal.

We need to recognize, that we are treading dangerous waters, in allowing too many people from too many countries, to enter the U.S. in too many ways.

The world has become too dangerous a place, to be that LAX in judgment.

Lets not pass an immigration reform bill, as the Boston bombing shows us, everything is working just great the way it is.

So what – the republicans are only afraid of Latinos – all others regardless of their heritage are welcome – Immagration reform will pass (unlike gun reform) becuase it's all about Repubs and Latinos – bet the farm on it!

So, it's ok for Democrats to exploit say...Sandy Hook to promote a politcal agenda, but all the sudden it's now reprehensible for Republicans to do the same thing....Hypocrites!!!!

Personally both parties should be ashamed!

Nobody can play the Blame Game like Repubs. Remember their "Shocked, I Tell You Shocked" reaction to Benghazi, but Lil W. got a free pass for going into a trance reading "My Pet Goat" on 9-11. I heard THE Bull horn made it in the W. Library but not THE Book.

They are exploiting the tragedy. We all know that the immigration reform being proposed is mainly focused on our SOUTHERN BORDER. Remember? Remember the republican debates when they were talking about self deportation and electrifying fences? Not once did they mention immigrants coming from Europe or abroad. When Willard "47%" Romney said "I can't have illegals working on my property," he wasn't referring to Chechs, Europeans or Asians, he was referring to MEXICANS.

"Yeah! Just like Newtown! Oh, wait....."

No, not at all like Newtown. The debate after Newtown was DIRECTLY RELATED to gun violence, gun laws, background checks, the lack of a registry, etc.

If you think the immigration of a refugee from the bloody conflict in Chechnya and that area, who came here as a TEN YEAR OLD BOY, somehow presents concerns about our immigration system, then you are mistaken. It's NOT directly related. You are seeking to distract from what it is REALLY directly related to: radicalization of our own citizens within our own borders. THAT is the real issue...not whether some 10 year old boy from a war-torn area of the world somehow "slipped through the cracks" and was a radical when he came here or was inherently susceptible to such things. Millions of legal immigrants just like him haven't done what they did. He is an exception to the rule...an exception you seek to use to prove the rule is the opposite, contrary to the overwhelming evidence.
