New York (CNNMoney) - Millions of travelers frustrated by airport delays may be relieved that Congress did an about-face this week, passing legislation to end the furloughs of FAA air traffic controllers.
But advocates for everyone else directly affected by the so-called sequester are miffed with the selective undoing of what were supposed to be across-the-board cuts.
FULL STORY
Everybody mentions $200 BILLION a year in "waste, fraud & abuse".... that continues unaffected. And of course none of the bureaucracy could cut time for aides, admins and other non-essential functions. It is pretty clear to everybody what Obama is doing here. He is fooling NOBODY. He wants to bring the pain now to prevent ANY future cuts, or even talk of future cuts. His "balanced approach" is entirely more taxes and more taxes, perfectly balanced.
This is pathetic on its face. The people really suffering are being thrown under the bus just to protect people who have money to burn. I get taxed to the maxed, and I don't mind paying it because my country stands for: EVERYBODY MATTERS NOT JUST RICH FOLKS
Squeaky wheel gets the grease. Especially if it inconveniences the Congress.
Reading between the lines, and already knowing, that I am paying for the gazillion trillion of Congressional frequent flyer miles, and the added perks to that perk, plus, their limmo services, their monthly vehicle payments, all perks, and NOT benefitting the American people one iota, is a reminder, another eyeopener, about public servanthood. Improving the quality of THEIR LIVES. I suspect it has absolutely nothing to do with the sequester, simply, their precious time "wasted" in the reality of their law trafficking trifling. Amazing, how our congress works, isn't it? Seriously, what do they do with the spoils of their goverment taxpayor checks?
Why are there no furloughs of Republican lawmakers? They don't do anything anyway.
There are cuts across all programs. Enough about the vacations! President PAY for their own vacations and for their own food and clothing. The Obamas have not taken nearly as many vacation days as the previous president did. Stop being childish. Government services cost money. We either need tax revenue, spending cuts, or some combination of the two. Congress has done nothing – NOTHING – to generate jobs. Good paying jobs will mean more tax revenue for government programs but Congress has wasted time and energy on anti-gay and anti-abortion. The only Bills they have even claimed to be about jobs would not generate jobs. All they did was deregulate industries that would pollute more. How about cutting subsidies to companies that are making 40-60% in profits!!! Why are we giving them corporate welfare?
@Stuffit
The ACA (Obamacare) doesn't actually begin implementation until next year. Congress was well aware that the Sequester required across the board cuts in every department. Again, the nonsense about vacations is petty and inaccurate. Obama has taken fewer vacation days than many previous presidents – far fewer than Bush – all presidents pay for their vacations. If you wish to be petty, at least get your facts in order.
I think obama learned republican arent caving this is a step in the right direction we are still ok time 4 more cuts
Stuffit... Why dont you stick to facts? The Health care act is the PPACA. There is no such thing as Obozocare or Obamacare. The PPACA ( Patient Protection Affordable Care Act) had to get 60 votes+ in the Senate to be debated many times and passed. So stop being unecessarily rude. It's President Obama's PPACA, of which you strongly disapprove, thats your right so stop being needlessly rude, and disrespectful to our President.
Then you go on about President Obama's time on the job/ vacations/ golf games/what? command performances??. ( He is as any president) COMMANDER IN CHIEF, idiot!!
Add em all up for Obama and he is way below ( any way days off wise) your beloved GW Bush spending time as a "cowpoke" ( ooops breaking my own disrespect rules as sorry) President Bush ( not cowpoke) at his Texas ranch!?
Regards,
Hodgson.
OMG, Please find things in our government to cut that are wastefull spending. There's plenty of it! Our country needs the security in the airports and people don't have to be losing jobs either just in order to help reduce our nations debt. If your going to sign off on a deal of across the boards cuts, it needs to remain in place as is when it was voted for. If you change one cut, like you just did with the FAA then don't you feel that now all cuts should be repealed? It only makes sense to start over, because these cuts are drastically effecting our country in the wrong way.
