House approves measure to end air traffic control furloughs

(CNN) - The U.S. House of Representatives on Friday passed a measure aimed at ending budget-related air traffic controller furloughs that were blamed for widespread flight delays this week.

White House spokesman Jay Carney said earlier Friday that President Barack Obama would sign the bill, which the Senate passed Thursday night.

Everyone was supposed to feel the pain of the sequester cuts, but once again it turns out only the poor & elderly will get squeezed.

what a waste of taxpayer money to even have this bill! at all!
the delays were predicted months ago if Congress could not get their act together on the budget
so please do not act like you are some kind of hero there Senators and Congressmen....you caused the delays to occur in the first place!

"We got 98% of what we wanted"–House Speaker Boehner, after the sequestration deal was agreed to. Presumably, waiting in the terminal an extra 30 minutes with the rest of us the Great Unwashed for delayed flights was part of that other 2%.

It's amazing how quickly things can get done when it affects the congress' travel for a week break.

Amazing! The GOP controlled House of Representaives creates the Sequester bill which demanded cuts in every single federal budget line "good for America" they chirped, "I got 98% of what I wanted" says Boehner. This is exactly what they were told would happen. "Obama fear mongering" they said. Now, when the heat is on, they seek to lay blame and pull the plug on their own bill.
    THIS is leadership?
THIS is how the GOP House of Representatives creates the budget for America?
The GOP is what is WRONG with America!

The President should VETO IT until they come with a bill to avert the entire sequester, not just what effects them!

Now they can fly back and forth to their states and districts without added delays while head start programs, meals on wheels, etc. languish – amazing...

It looks like even the Democrats want to stop Obama from hurting the country with his reckless actions. Now if they'd only do the same thing with Obamacare, the country might survive another 3 years until we flush Obama.

Shame on Congress. They only react to angry voters who get the attention of the news media. What about homeless families, senior day care centers, meals on wheels, and the sick who are dying of cancer? Guess their voices are too low to be heard.

Republicans, are the poster people for selective hearing. They also seem to be plagued with another malady, known as can't see forest for trees syndrome. Since congress was taken under the control of the party of no, they've done all they can to make life for the common man a daily trip through muck and mire. They, on the other hand, have kept fed real well, paid real well, and voted themselves a raise. Seems if money's as tight as they say, they'd make examples of they're leadership capabilities, and curb the waste from within. Yea! Right.

Great: be prepared to work until the day you die. No doubt for many they will be worked to death, that is, if they can find any work at all when they are old. Social Security was designed to keep the elderly from re-entering the workforce during the Depression and keeping other people from getting jobs. It would be nice if the ignorant bothered to learn the reasons behind why social security was put in place, and how our system has been so much more successful than its counterparts in the rest of the world.

Wonderful. Then they won't mind leaving Social Security alone so the elderly can eat a little better then cat food. Since it has nothing to do with the deficit anyway, and by the by......why not pay back social security all they money the govt has robbed from it to fund such great past times as......oh, War. The govt owes Social Security more then they owe China. Wanna talk about not paying your debts? This congress has finished the American goernment. Time to start over, or maybe if we said pretty-please, and we just made a bunch of mistakes the Queen would take us back.. We are just not capable of governing ourselves. And this is both sides of that crooked aisle.

Sequestration is supposed to hurt so the House and Senate is motivated enough to address the deficit and the debt.

All the House and Senate did was to mask a symptom. They did not work on a cure for the disease.

    Nice work people!
