A major campaign promise in 2008 was back in the spotlight Tuesday as President Barack Obama promised to renew his push to close the Guantanamo Bay prison.
The memoirs of one Guantanamo detainee were declassified and published Tuesday by Slate, where the prisoner writes he “trusted the American justice system too much.”
FULL STORY
A voice of reason! Thank god we still have someone with brains running this country.
It should have been done already. It is something that gets the Islamic militants to fight. We need to take their reasons to fight and leave them reasons to talk.
Guantanamo represents a failure of the system (and conventions) of international law to respond quickly enough to manage the relatively new problem of trans-national terrorism. The torture used ostensibly to extract intelligence data for prisoners was a failure of the United States to adhere to our core values and to international treaties of war. Based these failures this abomination of justice needs to close.
Oh no another campaign promise to fail to do! Obama is a fraud, liar and cheat. This promise won't further his agenda so forget it. He has failed at all of his promises so another failure from our failure in chief won't be noticable.
Where will the prison go.
Yeah right! What a joke! The only thing Obama has lead on was the already broke entitlement program Obamacare in his first year. As a President he has lead on nothing else the following 4 years. And he needed the nuclear version of congress to pass this disaster. Democrats today are trying to distance themselves from it. What an empty suit. The only thing he's doing is campaigning for the democrats in their 2016 congressional races in hope to win a democratic house. He's such a loser
Its about time we close Guantanamo Bay prison.
the cost financially is not worth it
