(CNN) - Former Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania said Friday he plans to attend the Iowa State Fair in August, a traditional stop in the first-in-the-nation caucus state for those considering a run for president.
In an interview with CNN’s Jim Acosta, Santorum also criticized the Food and Drug Administration approval this week of the Plan B One-Step emergency contraception pill without a prescription for women 15 and older.
Santorum, an arch-conservative who won a handful of battles in the 2012 Republican presidential primary fight, repeated on Friday that he’s not ruling out a White House bid next time and gave new details about his travel plans in the early voting states.
“We’re heading to Iowa, I think, in August. We’ll be out there for the state fair for a few days. And we’ll be, as we’re here in Houston, traveling around the country, talking about the important issues,” he said on “The Situation Room.”
Santorum was joining the program from Houston, where he addressed the National Rifle Association annual meeting earlier in the day.
“Sort of behaving like, you know, like we’re hoping for the idea – I always say, you know, I’m not running, I’m walking. And just trying to walk the path and discern what’s in the best interests of our country,” he said.
Santorum was originally supposed to visit Iowa on April 15 but had to cancel the trip due to illness.
Asked about the recent FDA ruling that President Barack Obama said he was comfortable with, Santorum indicated that he strongly disagreed with the decision.
“I think that's a horrific infringement on parental authority,” he said. “And I think it causes more problems. We want to have a society that encourages parents and children to talk to each other, to deal with these issues together, instead of having the government make it easier for children to do things behind their parents' back,” Santorum said.

Be very afraid......Howdy Dooty is back.
Ha, Santorum is a joke.

somebody needs to remind this dude that it's only 2013 – not 2015 – and besides – it makes one think that this dude is ON something !! Doesn't he realize that he didn't even have a "snowball's chance" when he was behind the podium, during the republican primaries ?
Will he wear that cute sweater and haul all seven of his kids around promoting birth control ?
He should stay home and be a father .
