Gay rights on long list of proposed changes to immigration bill

Washington (CNN) - A top Senate Democrat has offered a pair of amendments to an immigration reform bill bolstering rights for same-sex couples, a politically risky move that threatens to shatter Republican support for the sweeping legislation.

Vermont Sen. Patrick's Leahy's amendments would recognize same-sex marriages in which one spouse is an American, and also would allow U.S. citizens to sponsor foreign-born same-sex partners for green cards as long as there's proof of a committed relationship.

An important provision. Sure to be used as an excuse by wingers in Congress to do nothing on immigration reform.

This bill should not pass,Illegal Mexicans should not be rewarded in any way for coming here and stealing from the American Taxpayer and Worker......The illegal Mexicans deserve to be deported with the clothes on their backs, thats it.....We auction off all their property they obtained here illegally and fine their employers and this should more than pay for the costs of deportation.Any money left over we use to help the people of identity theft, and the communitys the illegal Mexicans have destroyed. Legal Latinos should be charged and jailed for helping the illegal Mexicans scam our GOV,schools and social services. Legal latinos are the ones helping the illegals ,so they are just as guilty, they need to go to jail and be fined, second offence they should be stripped of their citizenship for helping foreign nationals invade our far as the gays well latinos and gays go hand and hand,It has been proven most latino men are born with the gay gene and are very open to the homosexual experience, they are easily swayed into the homosexual lifestyle, and usually turn to child molestation at some point....

the democrats keep trying to add things to the immigration bill in hopes of getting the republicans to vote against it, their goal is to gain political ground for the mid-term elections. they need to stop believing their own propaganda and face the fact that despite what they read in their party newspapers the majority of rank and file republicans don't care about social issues as much as they care about the constitution and rule of law.

Scrap the entire shamnesty bill, it's absurd abuse of power. Like the ACA, they dont know whats in it, what it will cost and the devasting effects it will have on our economy. Follow the rule of law, only legal immigrants are welcome.
