Sanford completes political comeback in South Carolina race

Charleston, South Carolina (CNN) - Mark Sanford is living proof that life is full of second chances.

The former Republican governor of South Carolina, whose political career was left for dead along the Appalachian Trail after an extramarital affair, asked for, and Tuesday received, political redemption as he won a special election to fill a vacant House seat that he once occupied.

Come on, South Carolina, prove me wrong and send "Zombie Sanford" back to the Appalachian Trail.

(I fear he'll pull this off, though.)

No surprise here. It is very hard to compete in a state where people have been severly brainwashed to always be afraid. No one has to wonder anymore where SC is on the morals scale.

A nice preview of what's to come in 2014. We are tired of the democrat party tearing down America at every turn.

Dont cry for me America !

The cardboard image of Nancy Pelosi worked !

North Carolina would forgive "Fatty" Arbuckle and elect him to the house as long as he voted against Pelosi.

Integrity and character mean nothing in the South. This weasel used the "Jesus forgave me" get-out-of-jail-card and the hicks in South Carolina bought that line of crap. The red states really need to sucede from the United States.

Sanford gives hope to liars, cheaters and scumbags not just across America, but around the world, that they, too, can succeed in pulling yet another one over on the public.

It does help if you're from South Carolina, though. Apparently, the people who live there have the intelligence of a rock.

It's almost beyond pathetic, but you can be a puppy-kicking, baby-eating rapist; as long as you have that "R" next to your name, you'll get elected in the South.

It's like watching a train wreck in slow motion. Time for more gridlock in the do-nothing Congress.

A sad commentary on the voters of South Carolina – the only reason the guy won was because he caters to racists

If fiscal irresponsibilities, cheating, lying, & grossly unrepentant( did not either forgive the wife or respected her privacy ) ubiquitous amoral sex pervert, is chosen for public office instead to a more disciplined opposite, this is not political redemption but political wreckage. The tragedy is unpardonable. It is a victory of hate politics over honest democracy. Sanford does not deserve forgiveness from God because he could not forgive his wife. Neither could SC justify its support for his for reason of stopping 'reckless ' Obama spending because Sanford even spent taxpayers money for immoral sex life. The actual political redemption for Sanford & SC is yet to be determined with time .

The party of bible thumping family values hypocrites. I believe in second chances but this guy has made the people of SC feel like the wife/husband/child who is abused but they always go back because he/she is sorry to have beaten the you know what out of them and he/she won't do it again.
Then again, it IS sc where brains go to die.

Knowing that Sanford is a jerk, having absolutely nothing to offer to the public, how can some people publically display to be so dense as to vote for him? Perhaps voters should be much more interested in a modern Government and get together to elect candidates willing to work for the COMMON good! Sadly, that excludes most Republicans these days! Keeping Sanford out with his very "limited abilities" – that chance was definitely missed!

This was a big loss for the Democrats. It shows that the country is getting tired of the endless recession, unemployment, political coverups, lack of homeland security and a President with worn out speeches and deceptions.
