Senate panel tackles border security in immigration bill

Washington (CNN) - Members of a key Democratic-controlled Senate panel cast the first congressional votes on a sweeping bipartisan immigration reform bill on Thursday, turning back the first GOP attempts to beef up the legislation's border security provisions.

The Senate Judiciary Committee met for eight hours, debating and holding votes on more than 30 proposed amendments.

why isn't ice doing their job and rounding up all these illegals and deporting them? why are the laws of this country not being enforced? why do thousands of illegals feel so comfortable walking our streets without fear of being picked up and deported? why would we ever expect any new immigrations laws to be enforced when none of the current laws are being enforced? this is all a hoax on our country while our country is being invaded and taken over thanks to obama and the democrats.

Throw it away, create some temporary jobs deporting illegals. Secure the borders. Send the dems with the illegals, same thing – criminal is criminal.

Order of a real and permanent solution:

    1. Secure our borders.
    2. Track and deport all aliens with visas that over stay.
    3. Stop anchor baby magnet.
    4. E-Verify set up & working properly.

Once our government has proven itself capable of doing these things, we can begin to address the illegals immigrants in this country.

what facts? what evidence? you offer none, as usual.

do you disagree that almost all of our current laws are not being enforced? do you claim that sanctuary cities do not exist? do you not know that ice is being prevented from doing their stated job by the obama administration and are being sued as a result of it?

lastly, do you have something besides your usual drivel and personal insults to argue your point? didn't think so.

"300 amendment" – I heard 77 of them were Chuck Grassley's, and 5 were Cruz. Doin' the work for the people.

You Liberal's can't see the problem with giving 11 to 20 million citizenship. They will then be able to demand a better wage, of which means probably no job of whch means going on welfare. But, the Tax Payers will of course pick up the tab. Think that's wrong? I can give you 17 Trillion reasons it's right. It may be 13 years down the road but it will happen. Those that go thru the regular process are much better equiped when they become citizens. This immigration reform bill is a bad idea and should be dead on arrival. You think the liberal's and democrats are better for you?? Good luck.

    "criminal is criminal."

Except illegal immigration or things like overstaying your visa aren't crimes. They are civil offenses.

This is why we can't even have a rational discussion with you people: you're so misinformed and warped that it's like talking to a poorly programmed robot. Garbage in garbage out. You're nothing more than little talking point Turing machines.

Aaaah, the amendment process...the part of the show where GOPers/Teatrolls all propose numerous amendments each and then vote against the legislation even though their amendments were in it, saying "there were too many unrelated amendments." It's also where they try to poison the hell out of the legislation so that it's either broken if enacted or becomes un-passable.
