Boehner: Obama administration displaying 'remarkable arrogance'

Washington (CNN) – The way President Barack Obama's administration is handling itself amid parallel points of outrage displays a "remarkable arrogance" that could decay public trust of government, House Speaker John Boehner asserted Thursday.

And he predicted that when all the facts emerge on the targeting of conservative groups by the Internal Revenue Service, employees at higher levels than those in the field office where the targeting occurred will be implicated.

"Our system requires the bonds of trust between the American people and the government," Boehner said. "Those bonds, once broken, can be very hard to repair. Nothing dissolves the bonds between the people and the government like the arrogance of power here in Washington. That's what the American people are seeing today from the Obama administration. Remarkable arrogance."

On Wednesday, Obama demanded the resignation of the acting IRS commissioner Steven Miller, and vowed to take further action once more in known about who knew the targeting of conservative groups was taking place.

Boehner continued to demand more information from the Obama administration Thursday, and said criminal penalties could be in the pipeline for those who conducted the extra scrutiny on tax exempt applications.

Earlier this week he asked "who's going to jail over this scandal?" and on Thursday he cited the law prohibiting "extortion or willful repression" by revenue officers.

"I want to see the facts," Boehner said. "I want to know how this happened, who was responsible…we need to know where the facts are. Somebody made a decision to do this, and I doubt it was low level employees in this Cincinnati field office."

On Wednesday, a congressional source told CNN that the IRS has identified two "rogue" employees in the agency's Cincinnati office as being principally responsible for the "overly aggressive" handling of requests by conservative groups for tax-exempt status.

Mr. Boehner you are the most arrogant you know what I have seen in the U.S. Congress in over 40 years. You are a shame to country and to the true Republican party – you know longer represent the true Republicans and moderates. You sold your soul long ago.

Boehner ... Is this tan bonehead for real? He is the picture of "arrogance". The democrats will win big in 2014 because of Boehner's bonehead antics.

Boehner is absolutely correct. Next to Johnson, perhaps the most arrogant in my lifetime.

Senator Boehner displays more arrogance than any law maker now or before him so it is incredible but predictable that he would try to pass that label to President Obama.

Mike – an admission of guilt is actually knowing the facts. The IRS admitted to targeting certain groups. This has been ongoing and it was known at high levels at least within the IRS. So exactly what more do you want before you will admit that the IRS did something terribly wrong? Maybe you want a solid story from the media with facts revealed from whistle blowers within the IRS. Oh Wait, the Administration spies on news outlets who publish negative stories and risk ruining the relationship between journalist and source.

So lets look at the facts. Obama is the boss. He is in charge. he sets the tone and the narrative. The IRS cheats, illegally targets certain people who just happen to be groups that oppose Obama's agenda, groups that Obama has been very vocal about criticism in the past. One of the few news outlets that reports on a story that contradicts the Obama narrative is, are you ready for it? Spied on in an action that even Liberals are calling a crime.

Do you dispute a single one of these facts?

Boehner has no interest in the facts, only in manufacturing scandal to cover up the fact that the Republicans have no ideas and no plans beyond attacking Obama.

Remarkable Arrogance: Republicans slashed hundreds of millions from Embassy Security Budgets both before and after Benghazi.

Why are they pretending to care about Embassy Security now?

    Really, really,...

His answer was to fire the guy that was leaving in a few weeks anyway and we are supposed to take that seriously.

I say send those two Ohio auditors to jail and I bet they will sing like canaries to save their own hide, then see how far this goes...

Oh, the administration displays resistance to witch hunts, so the right wing calls it arrogance.
"The nerve of that guy not to roll over and surrender like we keep telling him to do."

So you're saying Obama fired the head of the IRS because of a witch hunt??

Arrogant doesn't begin to describe this admin. b.o. promised a transparent admin. in 1st term. Public gets coverup after coverup. 1. black panthers intimidate voters during election. b.o. and e.h. choose to ignore. Fast and Furious (actually begun under Bush) is brushed under carpet when public starts asking questions. More cover up. resulting in dead border guard and numerous criminals along the border being supplied with lots of weapons. Benghazi attack is blamed on a viral video by the prez and hil. Anyone with a smidgeon of historical knowledge should have known that the incident was terrorists message to the world that they are not defeated and will continue to attack America. It was no coincidence that the embassy was attacked 9-11-12; it was a message to America. To hear our admin terrorism was no longer a problem after bin laden's death. Another attack in Boston. This will not go away because b.o. says so. He is a muslim sympathizer, a socialist using some of the same tactics hitler used in the 1930's gradually turn Germany into a country where government controlled all aspects citizens' lives.
We are also seeing the change he promised but in a twisted way. High unemployment, more people on welfare than under any other admin., the largest debt in history and still spending money like it grew on trees. At this rate we will be a 3rd world country before the next prez. is elected. To make matters worse the liar of Benghazi if elected well drag this country down. 1st amendment and second amendments already being targeted. What comes next, king b.o.

Boehner is 100% correct. I have been thinking the same thing. Obama is saying, especially about Benghazi, look you caught me lying, but that is old news. Everyone should forget it. And while you are at it, stop digging into this because the other lies I told to the American people and Congress should not be discovered.

I don't think that any politician in Washington has a leg to stand on in calling someone arrogant. I have yet to see a humble politician.

This coming from a man who sits smug in his seat while doing everything he can to prevent any real progress in our government simply to make a Democrat's administration look bad. He must be smiling a lot more now.

I'm just curious: What was Boehner's reaction when Colin Powell lied to the U.N. in justifying the invasion of Iraq? Did he call for anyone to go to jail? And he calls THIS arrogance?

I have NEVER in my 47-3/4 years seen so much disrespect for a sitting POTUS and FLOTUS. The sad thing is the MSM simply pretends it's not happening, at least until someone speaks up for them. Then your comment gets deleted. But the hate filled, name calling diatribe remains.

I am glad to finally see this Administration get some serious media scrutiny. It finally took their own brethern to be wiretapped but that is the arrogance of this leadership. Would be nice to see the ABC"s and other known liberal outlets finally start asking questions. But when you have leads like Diane Sawyer who kiss the ground Obama walks on you will not see it.
