IRS official Lois Lerner placed on administrative leave
Washington (CNN) – The Internal Revenue Service official overseeing the unit that targeted conservative groups for several years beginning in the spring of 2010 has been placed on administrative leave, according to Congressional sources in both parties.
Lois Lerner was the director of exempt organizations when the agency filtered applications for tax exempt status for words such as "patriot" and "tea party."

She publicly revealed the targeting two weeks ago in her answer to a planted question at a bar association event in Washington shortly before an inspector general report on the matter was made public.
The agency's new acting director announced late Thursday he was appointing Ken Corbin, who was deputy director of unit which processes tax returns and payments, to oversee the exempt organizations unit.
Lerner appeared before the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday and stated she had not broken any laws or agency regulations. She then invoked her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination and declined to answer questions.
Republicans questioned whether she waived that right by making her opening statement.
Committee Chairman Darrell Issa will call her back to testify before the committee, his spokesman said earlier on Thursday.

She is a whistle blower who has been made the designated scapegoat. She has a right under the Fifth Amendment to not testify against herself. No matter what she does / says, she is wrong.

I think she also needs to be audited. I bet in her position at the IRS, she felt really comfortable with er, ah, loosening her own financial obligation.
The new director has taken an appropriate step in this action. At this point Lois Lerner is too distracted to be in any leadership position at the IRS. This in itself warrants the admin position regardless on whether or not she is guilty of criminal behavior.

Is Issa gonna try to get Lerner on purgery charges even though she pleaded the fifth in committee hearings recently because she hasn't said anything incriminating did she yet ...Remember it was Rick Scott running for governor of Florida and he pleaded the fifth over 85 times and now is governor so its either well spent money or a great lawyer but probibly both if she wants to survive these hearings and still keep her job!!

The Federal government is really a mess – too big, too bureaucratic and not responsive to the American people.
This women breaks the law and gets a paid vacation at the taxpayers expense. Ask her to resign just fire her. Unless workers are held accountable for their actions this is the type of service we get.
This incompetence is what we deserve when we allowed our Federal government to get to big to control and worse we are going to allow the IRS to take control of 7% of the US economy when they oversee the Affordable Care Act.

Seriously; it could quite possibly be that Obama had nothing to do with it. Political toadies swarm throughout the system, and they will do anything, ANYTHING, to look good to their bosses, past or present. It is not Left. It is not Right. It is ENDEMIC.
Rep. Issa will do anything to appear "holier than thou". He was more of a success as a car thief and corporate raider/fraud perpetrator than he has been as a Representative from my district in San Diego=- he is a ambitious publicity hound that has no shame, and an embarrassment for Southern California.

Great–gets to sit at home and gets paid! If the IRS ever calls me in for an audit, I'm going to plead the 5th and expect them to let me sit at home while they pay me.
She is hiding something. What gives the IRS any special favors in this matter. She should be immediately terminated!
