Obama to Oklahoma: 'We've got your back'

(CNN) - Oklahomans have the nation behind them as they struggle to bounce back from tornadoes that tore through the state last week, President Barack Obama said Sunday in the devastated city of Moore.

"As fellow Americans, we're going to be there as shelter from the storm for the people of Moore who have been impacted," he said, "and when we say that we've got your back, I promise you that we keep our word."

IWonder if anybody ever stops to think about how much of a distraction it is when a president’s visits. While in the middle of trying to recover from a disaster...all the responders have to stop what they are doing and prepare for the president (sorry about your broke leg grandma...just walk it off...you will be alright...we got to go and setup for the president.) Background checks, securing the areas (that are in shambles), making sure no clowns wishing to harm to the president is there, etc. It is a circus enough when a town is in a normal state of affair for them to host a president. This is just a TOTAL waste of time for a place that does not have the need for a PHOTO OP! The president is NOT needed at this location. His walking and shaking hands and hugging a few people will NOT result in relief. He will simply fly to the next photo op. The jet fuel spent flying here could have been better spent providing free meals for the victims of this disaster (google how much it cost to fly Airforce 1.)
Bottom line these people need help…they need a place to stay short term. They need their insurance company’s out there surveying the damage and coming up with fast settlements. They need reputable contractors to help them rebuild. They do NOT need a publicity hound/rock star president who is trying to shore up his rating. Shame on Obama and all the other presidents in the past that have done photo ops in the past for their own gain (and this is to make sure the obamamites don’t start jumping up and down referencing Bush…I have never figured out when George Bush got to be the standard for all presidents to compare…maybe it is because their attention span is no more than a few years…they would be shocked if they actually read a history book and turned off the boob tube.)
If Obama want to help these people…stay in Washington…act like a leader…stop dodging responsibility…a true leader accepts the past, present and future…they don’t point fingers at others…stop flying around the country being a rock star/campaigning all the time…work to find the solutions to the problems we have at the national level (let the local level people handle these problems…support them if they ask for it…but let the people who ACTUALLY do the work go out there)…accept that we have a national debt problem that is slowing killing this country (anybody out there figured out how to keep running up a credit card and never pay anything back…I have not.) I want everybody to think about what we will do one day when a disaster strikes and the federal govt has NO MONEY to help. It can happen.
