In response to Dole, Priebus declares RNC 'open for repairs'
(CNN) - Responding to criticism from Sen. Bob Dole, Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus bluntly stated Sunday that the GOP is in fact "open for repairs."
Last week the 1996 Republican presidential nominee said his party has changed so much in the past decade that even former President Ronald Reagan wouldn't find a place in it.
Instead of operating daily in a nonelection year, the national party should focus on broader plans to rehabilitate itself after the losses of 2012, Dole said.
“I think they ought to put a sign on the national committee doors that says ‘Closed for repairs’ until New Year’s Day next year. Spend that time going over ideas and positive agendas,” the former Kansas lawmaker said on “Fox News Sunday.”
Appearing on the same program Sunday, the party's chief praised Dole as a hero but argued the party has nominated two men – Arizona Sen. John McCain and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney - who paint a different picture than "what Mr. Dole had to say. "
Priebus also pointed to the RNC's months-long review after losing the November election and its efforts to change the party's messaging strategy to reach a broader range of voters.
'We basically went around the country, we talked to 52,000 people, we have a serious project that we're working on, we unveiled it," Priebus said. "And I would say we're not closed for repairs, but open for repairs."
Priebus argued the party hasn't "decisively won" a presidential race in 24 years.
"This is not something that suddenly happened, but it is something that the national party and Republican Party, et al., have to address, which we did," he added, referring to the RNC review.

This RNC chairman fails to consider his base is a group of racists, bigots and toothless knuckle draggers, with neither the intellect nor the integrity to begin a new era of inclusiveness. So they are stuck with the dirty diapers of this country and that's their eulogy and good riddens. This country doesn't need the GOP/Tea a Tard brand of hate
Its impossible to change the image of the RNC base. They are rednecks and bigots...The Tea Tards lack intelligence, compassion, and common deciency for goodness sakes. Lies , prejudice and hatred is not a way to lead a country forward. GOP gatherings double as Klan meeting these days.

I am absolutely amazed the RNC is even trying to hide their hatred for minorities. I would not be surprised if this group of bigots are organizing to deport everybody who doesn't meet their racial / ethnic requirements in their on going mission to "take back this country" by any means necessary.

Reagan was for taxing the wealthy, he was concerned about taking care of the environment, he was pro de-nuclearization, he was a proponent for better gun control. What Republican stands for that today? Not a single one. But President Obama does, so is Obama just as good a Republican President as St. Ronnie?

My question to all posters here but mainly republicans,just how much tax payer monies are being wasted on these supposid Issa led committes, political witch hunts..I bet its well more than what was supposidly was spent by IRS or anyone else on capital hill for that matter..Issa should be held responsible from day one because he's as crooked a person as they come and hypocrites out there mostly republicans if you don't know Issas past in California and trust him you're as quilty as he is and trust me he's the liar out there Holder and others aren't.With his supposid conspiracy theories,nothing more because he hasn't in all his committes proved one thing legit and if he did ,tell me because I haven't seen it from the bum!!

Advice to the repair person- get cash up front.
His idea of "repairing" the GOP is to repackage the same old stuff......add a few new buzz words......get a token minority person out front......and hope nobody notices the same old policies being put forward by Republicans in Congress and in the state houses.

Priebus is in denial: The GOP is a 3rd party already.
We just haven't found a second party to replace them yet.
You can't talk about reaching out to minorities while practicing voter suppression in key states.
This doesn't just galvanize minorities in the states being suppressed, it pisses off minorities (anda lot of whites too!) in EVERY state. ...and it doesn't even work; they still lost Florida.
Forbes did a story last year about how voter suppression measures led to higher minority turnout NATIONWIDE.

Exactly WHAT are they doing differently after this "review"? All I see from their "rebranding" is them doing the exact same stuff as before, only louder.
