(CNN) - A senior Obama administration official on Thursday responded to a report in the UK-based Guardian newspaper that the U.S. government has obtained a top secret court order that requires Verizon to turn over the telephone records of millions of Americans to the National Security Agency on an "ongoing daily basis."
The official stressed that the information acquired by the purported order "does not include the content of any communications or the name of any subscriber. It relates exclusively to metadata, such as a telephone number or the length of a call."
Big brother watching why would anyone be surprised with this.
So that makes it OK. A phone number is a good as name but since we are all stupid I guess the administration knows they'll get away with taking more of our rights
The officials definition of metadata is same as the definition for data mining used by the Bush administration. I guess the Dems are willing to use smoking mirrors to explain keeping a program that they feel is helpful for our security.
Welcome to 1984. It will only get worse from here. The sad part is, so many aren't paying attention or don't care what the government doe, i.e. "it doesn't affect me."
Yeah, sure, there's no way for the government to figure out who the phone number belongs to...
"does not include the content of any communications or the name of any subscriber. It relates exclusively to metadata, such as a telephone number or the length of a call."
Rrrrriiiiigggghhhhttttttttt............
And a senior Obama official is a believable source? Can you say Saul Alinsky? The progressives running this country (into the ground) are like little children with thier hand in the cookie jar...."NO I DID NOT!" is always what they will say or "IT WASN"T MEEEE!"
These progressives always point to other peoples bad behavior to justify theirs. CNN needs some journalists that will actually investigate what the DC gang is doing and not just print what they say.
