Bachmann: 2016 is not off the table

(CNN) – Rep. Michele Bachmann, who announced last week she won't seek re-election next year, says she may run for elected office again one day and is not ruling out another presidential bid.

But the Minnesota Republican said her future career in politics is not her top priority at the moment.

"I'm not retiring, I'm not going silent, I'm not quitting my public involvement," she said late Thursday night on Fox News' "Hannity." "In fact I may run for another public office. That could happen. But for right now I'm going to find a different perch in order to be able to weigh in on these matters."

While she said she didn't have a specific plan as of now, she is "wide open and looking."

Discussing her reason for leaving Congress, the fourth term representative said she will have served about the same amount of time as a president would serve–eight years. "And I do think that this is a body that needs to have continual turnover."

Bachmann ticked off a list of what she considers her accomplishments on Capitol Hill and in the tea party movement. Asked about a potential 2016 bid for the White House, Bachmann said "I'm not taking anything off of the table."

"But certainly that's not my number one item that I'm looking at right now," the 2012 GOP presidential candidate said. "I'm in the game for the long haul."

She was not asked about a recent congressional ethics inquiry into the improper transfer of campaign funds. However, Bachmann said last week that was not part of her decision to leave.

I truly hope she runs! Nothing better than to have another campaign highjacked by the crazies. I was totally entertained last time between the 999 plan, the 47% club and let's not forget that we all now know that a woman can telepathically end a pregnancy. Makes ya proud to be an American!

I hope she DOES run. Saturday Night Live needs some new material – and she is constant fodder for laughter.

"...Send in the clowns. .... Don't bother, they're here" Maybe that song should be the theme song of the GOP Presidential Primaries. LOL I'm just glad she won't represent the MN 6th after 2014.

If nothing else, she will give comedians more juicy material in her next bid for office. She's the gift that keeps on giving for them.

She is looking for another "perch" – how about inside a bird cage – her brain is about the right size.

If the GOP wants to improve its image and gain more national support they need to discourage ignorant, self-serving extremists from their political circle. Michelle Bachman should join Palin in writing a christmas book.

The Dems are delighted to give Ms Bachmann a microphone any time she wants one.

At a time when Republicans are caling their own party 'stupid', 'crazy', 'mean-spirited', 'out of touch', and more, Ms Bachmann is the poster child for all of that.

Hope that she runs. Hope she runs just like she ran from the reporter gal that was trying to ask her some questions about the statements she made at the CPAC.

If a cipher such as George W. Bush could win the White House in 2000 (thanks to the Supremes), anything is possible with the likes of Michele Bachmann, Sarah Palin or Rick "the Hick" Perry in 2016.

Should she run again in 2016, let's just hope that she gets at least a couple of her "facts" right next time. Remember her speech concerning tax relief back on January 21, 2011 when she stated, “It didn’t matter the color of their skin, it didn’t matter their language, it didn’t matter their economic status ..... it made no difference. Once you got here (America), we were ALL the same. Isn’t that remarkable.” I guess ALL of those black slaves and poor white indentured servants didn’t fully realize that they were owned by others. Amazing !! And her l-o-n-g list of wrong “facts” goes on and on and on .......

It is imperative that leaders like Michelle Bachman stay in the game because the liberal establishment will sink our ship, rip off our democracy and screw the taxpayer, without strong voices of courage and concern!
